Hi. Good Morning. So. I've a question for you. The knee surgery went good & you are not in too much pain right?      The percs that you have are from your Doctor?         You have a friend in me, I want to help. Just need you to provide a little more information. Pamela

Hi, and welcome to the forum. You will find lots of advice and support here.

Basically, you need to come up with a plan to quit the Percs. You can either taper off slowly, or quit cold turkey. With a taper you will still have withdrawal symptoms, but they should be milder and will last longer. Your doctor would be the best one to advise you and give you a taper schedule. If you quit cold turkey, the withdrawal symptoms will be more intense, but the worst should be over in about a week. This is a personal decision you will need to make.

I was not able to taper, and decided to go cold turkey and get through it. There are things you can do to ease the withdrawal symptoms. Bottom line is to decide on a plan, and stick to it.

Keep posting here with any questions you may have. Best wishes!

It's not "all in your mind".  Addiction is cunning, baffling and powerful.
You are not a "less than" person....your are not weak....you are an addict.
A good thing to do (both you and your wife) is to learn all you can about addiction.  Understanding what we are up against....helped me be equipped to fight this battle.  Addiction is a beast!  Why did "I" have medical issues and become addicted to my pain meds....yet my husband had his fair share and didn't?  He's not an addict.....I am.

Here's a couple of great resources....on the hbo site there are 6 tabs at the top...they all open up and offer yet more info plus there are short videos on the r.h. side of each page, too.  The youtube video, while very long, is one of the VERY best ones I have EVER watched/listened to.  It was recorded at a conference and the audio is "low"...so you may need earbuds/earphones if you choose to spend the time to watch it.  It's long....but SO WORTH the listen, imo.  Personally, it enthralled me!!!!

Also, hope you'll read all you can on our forum here.....there is a plethora of help and information~
