family knowledge

I began my journey yesterday by cutting back on my tramadol from 10-15 tabs to 3tabs/day.  I've felt very anxious, tearful, sweaty and cold. Did I cut back too fast?  Also how do I tell my husband.  Part of me wants to keep this dirty little secret  but it would sure feel good if someone really knew what was happening.  Well,  I did make it through today!  Thanks everyone!

That's way too much of a drop.  Basically you are almost in full withdrawal....Do you want to do a slower taper or just get it over with????......If so, slow down...maybe drop 1 pill a week.  Dang it, girl....

I'm also addicted to tramadol. When my doctor wasn't giving me enough I turned to buying them online. At my worst I was taking 700mg 3 to 4 times a day(about 45 pills a day).I'm still not completly off them but I've cut down to 600mg once a day(12 pills). In my experiance trying to cut back to quickly always failed for me.If your taking up to 15 pills a day I'd cut down to 7 for a whole month, and then down to 3.Cutting back too much at a time will have you going thru alot of the withdraw symtoms. Also be prepared for depression. These withdraw symtoms are almost impossible to hide.I'm sure you have already looked up what withdraw consists of.Words don't do it justice, there where so many times I wanted to give up, and I'm still not all the way there.Tapper yourself off slowly at least thats what has been working for me.I had to have my husband give me a set amount each day then hide them, but my addiction was severe.

I think that when all is said and done, they're going to respect you more for coming to them in your time of need right now. RXQUEEN67 is a new member here, but has hit the head on the nail with the post above me and has really helped a lot of people out, so listen to what she has to say, please. Keep posting here with us and let us know how things pan out. Let us know if you have gone to him and told him what you're going through. There is nothing negative that can come from getting off the pills, you must keep this in mind whenever possible!  <3

It is always best policy to be honest, and you shouldn't take this road alone. Of course we are all here for you, but you need someone physically there for you so that they know what you are going through. Cutting down is a good idea, however don't go too fast or your withdrawals will be almost unbearable. I would speak with your doctor (if you are getting them prescribed) on how to ween off of them. If you are not prescribed these pills, I would try to make a tapering schedule for yourself, such as cut back by 2 pills every 3 days, or something to that extent. That way you can taper over a timespan of about a month. You can do this! and I would be honest with your husband. He may get upset, but you will feel so much better having someone there for you physically while you go through these withdrawals. Best of luck to you. Keep us updated as to what you decide to do, and how you are doing.

That is a very fast taper. An ideal taper would be 1-2 pills every 5 days or so. Tramadol is best tapered down if you can. Also, I'd recommend telling your husband. It will lift a huge load off of your shoulders, and the support would be most beneficial.
