oh and excedrin does help with the rebound headaches...but be careful or the excedrine eventually becomes a habbit.
the rebound headache thing is such a vicious cycle! many people don't know about it and can drag it out to the bitter end. i wish there were more posts talking about that specific problem. the cure can be the cause! sway
Thank you for sharing your experience and advice.

Mymay, great posts I am so glad you stayed around .
actually it was closer to 10 years...sorry.
oh and i should add i was clean for around 5 years....you never completely quit thinking about the drug, although you can go days or weeks without giving it a thought.....but still eventually you do get the urge again and its as strong as ever. it's a constant battle just like any other drug, but certainly not a hopeless one
i experienced that for a couple years after i quit taking them the first time. eventually it went away but it took a long long time. it's actually rather typical with barbiturate withdrawal. it does eventually go away though...at least, to an extent.
the problem is that taking a couple WILL make you feel a million times better...but after a couple days you're back where you started and constantly wanting to take more and more and the drug no longer makes you feel good anyway......
truthfully it's much better to endure however long you have to go to get rid of this drug than to give in to it. i hope u make it and i hope it doesn't last as long for u as it did for me.
Vicki:
Do you ever quit thinking about fioricet. I had been clean for 42 days and thought about them every day then the other day I found two in a drawer and took them and I felt so much better mentally. I feel like since I have been off of them that I have no energy and am depressed. Have you experienced this? Any advice.
Thanks a million.

Hi...I'm here! I hope I can help...
First, can you try a different drug and drop the Nexium? Tram is right...
Next,it may not even be the Nexium. After taking Fioricet for only a brief time, rebound
headaches begin. Then the need for Fioricet, then more headaches. It's a horrible cycle!
Do you think you're addicted, mentally,to the Fioricet? Do you like the way you feel while taking them? Either way you want to stop and that's great! The thing is,it's not pleasant at all but entirely doable. It's not like opiate withdrawal. It's much different. For
that reason you need to taper slowly, over a long period of time. It's hard to do but a must! You cannot stop cold...increase risk of seizure is a promise and much anxiety.
Therefore, a little at a time. Call the doctor who prescribes this for you. Explain you want to taper down and eventually get off this drug. He/she should help you with a sound taper plan. Believe me,it's never too late!! I took this awful med for many, many years and it had it's hooks in me. But,I got off of it and feel teriffic now.
Keep posting~there are not many of us but a few who may post to you. I'll be around and will try to help as much as I can.
Vicki
Hi! It has to be tapered slowly to avoid serious complications! I would think that you should get off the Nexium if it is causing HAs that bad???? Maybe there is something else you could take for your stomach?
Vicki will be on in a minute. She is the expert on Fioricet! : )))
