going cold turkey-- going crazy

i have made the choice to get off the pain pills. ive been on them for almost ten years now and now have a two year old and just ready to be done with them. i thought id feel better by now but just feel worse. i cant eat cant sleep ive even had to send my baby with my mother and have had someone here with me because i dont trust myself. i truly want to be done with them for me! but my brain keeps telling me to go get it.. ive dealt with addiction before but nothing like this. i knew i feel bad but for me its the mental part how to cope with life without the drugs i dont even know why im writing this just dont know what else to do.. will i ever feel better? right now its not looking good

So how long has it been since you last took methadone and then how long for anything else?Knowing this can give us some idea where u r at in the withdrawal process.I would agree with you that it is hard to talk to people about this but if you talk with your doc he/she could prescribe you non narcotic med to help you thru the worst of the withdrawals. But if you decide not to at least try to get some of the vitamins and supplements,They WILL Help!Keep posting because I know having lots of someones that understand what your going thru does help!

Hi!  With all you have going on, you're really doing pretty well.  I know it doesn't seem like it right now.  You're probably about to turn a corner physically at least.  Something like NA would help with your cravings and mood in general.  You NEED some support like that. Would counseling be a possibility?  I know you probably have enough to spend your money on with being a single parent in school, but it would be worth it.  You just HAVE to get that support in order to stay clean.  Anyone can get clean.  It's the staying that way that's hard!

i was not going to the clinic but buying it off the streets.. anywhere from 20 mgs to 40 or more mgs whatever i could afford so maybe thats why i still feel so bad... all i get from the dr is loratab but i missed my appt because of the temptation... my number two choice would be opanas which is oxy cottin and moriphine... im sure i can do this but maybe should consult my dr.. its just hard to admit to yourself u need help much less anyone else..

Hello kwal....I was wondering when was the last time you took methadone and how much were you on?Did you take it daily?I ask because methadone does have a longer acute withdrawal time.I read that the acute withdrawl will last for about 21 days. Now I dont tell you this to scare you,im telling you this so you can keep telling yourself that it DOES END! I myself am on day 19 off methadone but I tapered and am still tapering with hydros from my doc so I feel like im cheating kinda but im still really sick and in pain but thats because I have still got a road ahead of because of having to taper the hydros now.You will have some days that you feel almost 'normal' again and then maybe a couple of days where you feel tired and sickly but it WILL get easier and better!I myself am having a very hard time so I do understand what your going thru to some extent but hey you are ahead of me,clean,so CONGRATS on that.Keep fighting girl! You CAN do this!I would try the suggestions from others as they all do help to some extent or the other. If you can get melatonin(I get mine at walmart)that does help with sleep and relaxation.Im trying to think of anything else I can tell you that may help that hasnt been posted yet.I also lean on Jesus and I will be praying for you.Just keep posting or reading if you cant post!We are here for you!BIG HUGS!

Well that first step stinks! But hang in there. Today is day 6 for me. I'm feeling somewhat human! Keep posting! Everyone on here is amazing. I couldn't have done it without them. Even when I was too sick to post I just got on and read. It made me not so alone. Try the Thomas recipe on this page. I only used parts of it. By the time I found this site I couldn't drive. Vitamins helped. I carried a heating pad all over. It helped with the pain and the creepy crawlies when I was shivering so bad a bath was impossible. Be strong. Good luck!

It does get better...however, you have a few days of he ll before that happens.  Days 3-5 are the worst overall for most.  Good for you..a few days of misery will lead you to a better path.  I am 10 months clean and the first week was miserable.  But, in reality it was one week in my life versus a whole year of addiction.  You can do it.  Keep hydrated..don't forget to drink Gatorade, eat puddings, do ensure or boost if you can't eat.  Dehydration makes withdrawal worse.  Imodium, Imodium, Imodium..
It helps with the tummy and the trots and stops the runs which will help with the  dehydration. Hot baths with Epsom salts helps as well as trying to get outside for some air and sun.  MAKE yourself do something when you can.  It really helps with the energy levels.  Keep posting we will help.
