Hey everyone . Its been a while since Ive posted , but I figured Id just say a positive thing or two :)Since going through alcohol withdrawl just a little over 2 months ago , I havent touched it or smoked pot , I have been completely clean and I'm loving it . The first month and a half or so was pretty bad with anixiety/slight depression , but it is improving . It does take time , but things get better. For me , it hasnt been a proplem resisting alcohol , but I can definitely see how easy it would be to slip back into old habbits . On a few occasions I thought about sometime in the near future having maybe just a beer , but then I realized that it would be a VERY BAD idea. Stay completely clean , and you can do it. Of course , the withdrawl for that one week REALLY sucked , but the real battle, in my opinion, is the mental one that comes afterwards. You can do it . I did it :) Stay strong and stay clean everyone
What state do you live in? I am trying to put something together to make comparisons between MA and other states. MA is very conservative...a friend in CA called a Methadone clinic and had an appointment for the same afternoon. I personally don't really want to try Methadone. The big reason is I travel pretty frequently, and I wouldn't be able to maintain any consistency. Around here, you have to prove yourself for a long time before you get take-homes. What do you do if you have to go away for a few days or longer? Is the clinic close to you?
There have been many studies done on buprenorphine vs methadone. I have read the results of many, but I unfortunately haven't saved them. I could find some again, and I will post the links to them. Basically, they tested buprenorphine, methadone, and placebo. In all cases that I saw, methadone had the highest retaining rate of all three. More people on methadone finished the study. I have never had buprenorphine, so I obviously can't write from experience. But, the studies I read were legitimate. From what I saw, buprenorphine works well with people that were on lower doses of an opioid. If someone is prescribed a half gram of morphine a day, then methadone is the superior choice. I am currently on methadone maintanence and it is working extremely well for me. The only problem I am having is with the once a day dosing. I am in pain almost every night....sometimes miserable pain. When I get takehomes, I can split dose...one in the morning and one at night. The pain control during the day has been exceptional. I take 100mg in the morning. If I could take another 100mg at night, I would be really happy. Actually, a good 80-80 split would work best....two diskettes each time. The 100mg does hold me as far as withdrawal goes. When I go in the morning for my dose, I feel completely normal besides the pain. It takes about an hour to kick in. My wait to dose is usually five minutes.

Yes, a few people have done me really wrong - you got that right.
Did anyone ask you what you thought?
