has long term heroin use permanently changed my brain

I'm 52 And I've been using heroin almost half my life. When I try to stop it feels like I have no sole . Is this permanent,I have to stop now. I am going to try a short suboxoin treatment for no more than one week. But I  don't know what will be left of me. I'm worried that I will never be happy again. I am going to try tho perhaps with extensive vitamin supplements and extreme physical exercise. I am in uncharted Watters and could really use some help. I don't want any false hope. If someone who has a similar story and has managed to come out the other side please contact me about what to expect thanx

Yes, to answer your question, after that long, your brain chem has rewired. From what I've read, it can take take 3 months to over a year for your brain to right itself. I suppose that's pretty personal too based on how long, age, exercise you do, and other things for your brain to rewire. But it will get there. That rewiring didn't happen overnight so getting "normal" again may take son time to rewire normally. Good luck to you my friend!

I was doing heroin, oxys, vics, percs... I got on subs in 2009 think it would be short term. It wasn't. I've been on subs since 2009. Just stopped 25 days ago. Subs five you energy but it did give me strength to not have cravings for the harder stuff. The subs worked for me. I tapered down but wish I hadn't taken them so long. Of course follow your docs advice but remember that you still must stop the subs too. They are just as addicting and the w/d was bad and lasted a lot longer. Try and see if you can use them as short a time as possible. I really wish you all the luck in the world! Even after 25 days, I still have symptoms of w/d from subs. Can't control my body heat. Strange things are happening and I still have runs. So Imodium is my best friend now. All my love and best wishes mate!
