why the menapause-like hot flashes for males?

Since going on and off of methadone (very recently I am getting off hydrocodone for the first time in almost 8 years straight, 11.5 years total), I seem to get sudden sweats quite often.  I keep a fan on me during the night, which makes my wife cold (now using an electric blanket).  One minute I am hot & sweaty, the next, I am cold from the sweat and fan.  I have to keep a fan at work and dread wearing a suit coat because of the two layers.

i dont know when I was on methadone I always had sweat pouring off of me now clean Iam freezing maybe different for others my husband is happy not sleeping w/windows open in the winter!

I guess the question is whether or not the sweats are common to the usage of meds or not.  I did not seem to have the issue with hydrocodone alone- that was just the itchy feeling and failure to urinate even though I felt the need to.  This may seem like a stupid question, but are the methadone withdrawls the same as hydrocodone? Worse?  

These are more random thoughts and questions than anything.  I have recently had to admit for the first time (after a huge breakdown and almost losing everything) that I have a serious problem with meds.  My wife found out the problem when I broke down and could not hide it anymore.  She jumped right into my corner and got online.  She found this page and I read some of the simple postings and questions.  It was amazing to see how many people had similar side effects and issues.  It felt good to know that I am not alone.  I am a macho type of guy and am used to being in control.  Admitting I cannot control myself when it comes to a simple f-ing pill was humbling... humiliating.  24 Norco 10/325 daily (6 at a time) for a few years has really taken a toll on my macho bullshit (it is fading away) and the withdrawls hurt more than the pain that made me take the pills in the damn first place.  I just hope someone can read this and see for his or her first time that there are people out there and be as impacted as I was when I finally felt pathetic or strong (depending on how you look at it) enough to reach out.

I have been through both for people that have heard my story sorry. Here goes took pills for 3yrs and went to mathadone for 4yrs started at 70milgrams ended at 350 I chose to do it c/t w/d were worse thing I have ever been through still feeling w/d symptoms 3mnths later and my pill cravings are back as well I think alot started because of pain, I was still in pain w/all the meds I took. lean on your wife and it takes a real man or women to admit they have a promblem. here if you need me
