Harley--I know exactly how you feel, I had several spinal surgeries and was on oxys for about seven years. I know all about the roller coaster of pain meds and how it takes your life away. I felt the same way you do now about 10 months ago and decided to get off the pain meds. I know the feeling of grabbing for the pill bottle before you even get out of bed and it is a terrible existence.  I agree with IBKleen you SHOULD wait until about a week after your last surgery before you try to do c/t as you will need that time to heal.

Is your surgery to take out a bone stimulator and battery? If so I know when I had mine removed I was in some pain for about 5 days and then it eased up. So I would heed IBK advice and wait. Also IBK gave you some great supplements to help you through w/d when you do stop. There are alternative ways of handling your pain and I would be glad to share them with you, but first get through your last surgury. I will be praying for you God Bless---Rick

Hi & Welcome,

You are not alone. this community is a group of members just like yourself you understand what you are going through.

As much as you want off of them, and I don't blame you, you may as well wait until the last surgery is over. If you do it now you will go through the physical withdrawal process for nothing. they will have you on pain meds, probably for a week after the surgery so think about getting ready to do it then.

In the meantime, get yourself mentally prepared. A positive attitude goes a long way in this process. Also, look at the bottom right of this page---you will see The Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol. They contain supplements that may help ease the process somewhat. Get yourself some Imodium, Gatorade and Potassium supplements. There is also a product called Hylands Restless Legs which many say helped them. Melatonin is a natural supplement that may help with sleep issues.

This is a great place for support so hang around. Let us know when you will be going in for surgery.
