I almost forgot; does Dr.M. Myers do Halloween home visits for *special* treatment? :)
(Couldn't resist!)
First, I didn't need to be weened off the benzos because it takes a long time to get hooked on them and I was only on attivan for less than 3 weeks. I don't know if dr. Myers is still using these meds like he did 20 years ago. It was a bit contreversial because it loweres the BP so much but he knew what he was doing. all the best
I'd be curious to know if he's still doing it this way. In many circumstances DEA has stepped in and made any sort of working detox like this all but illegal in name. I'm familiar with the mix you describe, it was used as a detox as early as the early 70's in San Francisco at the Haight Ashbury Clinic.
The problem was the junkies kept selling the med's to raise money to buy drugs, so they discontinued it and switched to methadone as it is a more easily controlled substance.
I wanted to ask you, after you were done with the opiate detox, did u have to wean off of the benzo's? Because i know for me, i was really carefull in how much klonpin i took through my detox...Because 3 yrs ago i went c/t off of them, and it was pure hell and worst then my detox of opiates using 15 10 mg a day....
thanks for the info!

I think you are partialy right and it also (dialates) expands the arteries which lowers BP. Like I said with regualr doses of clonidine and a benzo , it helps you sleep a lot through withdrawl and makes it so much easier.
Supposedly while in WD's, your adrenaline (sp) starts going haywire. Clonidine works by inhibiting certain glands (adrenal?), lowering the amount of adrenaline your body is producing, thus reducing certain WDs.
I never found Clonidine to help me much, but it did seem to help reduce the pain in my knees, and it worked wonderfully for sleep at night the first 2-3 nights (the 'sleep' it helps produce doesn't seem to work more than a few days).
Good luck to you! :)
your welcome and I hope some of the detoxers here get a chance to try this instead of methadone or sub
That's about right. In conjunction with benzos it the best narcotic detox with no narcotic rebound like meth or sub.
when your in withdrawals, it can cause rapid spikes in your blood pressure which in hand can cause a lot of the withdrawals symptoms to be worse...this is what i was told, how accurate it is, not sure...maybe Mrlucky could explain it better than i...
I've never understood how or why does clonidine help... I know it lowers blood pressure but how does that help.... other drs were scared it was going to cause kidney failure I'm sure..
It was ins. and the bill was high . I'm sure he's the same doc at kiaser. His treatment made the BP go very low which bothered other docs but he knew what he was doing. By itself clonidine wasn't that good for kicking for me but with thoses other meds it was great. Most docs are too worried to be this extreme and just let you suffer, most don't really care.
I would give the clonadine a try , anything that might help. I know you are struggling right now .You are doing sooooo well.take it ,day by day ,hour by hour min by min.

I am just curious Lucky how much did a 28 day detox cost ??? today it could cost a fortune ??
I was told to pick up clonadine at my pharmacy a few days ago, but didnt, Im taking hydroxyzine & it helps me sleep, I,ve taken clonadine before & it made me feel like a friggin zombie, but I guess I wouldnt have much to lose, as I feel like one without it anyway! Penelope
