Tirzha I was using Heroin daily for about a six month period (just a little longer than you) and quickly realized how unhappy I was with my life and very quickly I had become addicted, just like you.  So we have that in common.  You know that being a Heroin addict is not your destiny, you just took a wrong turn down your life path and now youre ready to get back on track.  I went to a methadone clinic and I have to say that it helped me.  (look in the yellow pages or online and find one near you) First thing that accomplished for me was getting me legal again.  I didnt have to do the illegal drug and risk going to jail and losing my son.  I was amazed and how good I felt with the methadone, not high of course, but certainly not sick like I had felt the many times I had tried to kick on my own cold turkey.  but I do have to mention that kicking methadone is not easy either but at least the clinic is in control of the amount you are taking and what I did after a couple months was ask them to slowly taper my dosage down and I finally kicked that too.

They didnt have suboxone avail back then, this was over 10 yrs ago so I dont know much about it.  I do know that you can get a prescription for it from a doctor as well as methadone I think.  Just wanted to share what I did.

a word to the wise...be wary of pain meds...its the same family as heroin...opiates...Im currently on day 5 of kicking those dang things.

just know that you can do this...you can get your life back

good luck and much love

Please stay away from Methadone....it will help you stay away from heroin, but it's worse, does more damage and harder to get off of....check into suboxone or the generic subutex....do a google on suboxone there are places on the net to look for a doctor....it's a little more costly but not as addictive as methadone...good luck!

I havent had much experience with heroin, and heroin addictions. but my advice to you is to mentally prepare yourself to let go of the drug, think about letting it go and not going back, think about taking the medications.
How to go about getting the medications- go to a rehab center. if you want to keep it confidential, then you might simply want to not take any drugs for it.
honestly addiction to heroin is very mental, not physical.
so do relaxing things instead of heroin, like tea, baths or go shopping whever you feel cravings for it. get some additional hobbies to keep you stimulated.
cant do much else in the way of advice, but good luck, and hope i help a little bit!
