help?

I am a recovering addict. I recently injured the thoracic area of my back and was prescribed zanaflez. Is this really a safe drug for me to be taking? Is it addictive?

Zanaflex is Tizanidine which is used to relieve the spasms and increased muscle tone caused by multiple sclerosis, stroke, or brain or spinal injury. Tizanidine is in a class of medications called skeletal muscle relaxants. It works by slowing action in the brain and nervous system to allow the muscles to relax.

Do a search on here for it. Any drug can be troublesome, but Zanaflex can be a very helpful tool. I use it as needed when my back gets too tight. I use it with Ibuprofen and the combo works as well as opiates. Here is a link by avisg. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/Zanaflex/show/548835
In fact, it was avisg that told me about it. I like Zanaflex better than Flexeril, because I feel less groggy on Zanaflex.

Some of the members here have taken zanaflex with good results.  Is anyone holding them for you?  Is this a short term plan with the meds?  Hope you get to feeling better.....sara
