I agree with Free - we all have it within ourselves to stop, but most of us need help along the way. And Bkitty really hit home when she said to stop now before the habit consumes you. As you get older the detox gets harder and the addiction takes a bigger and bigger physical and mental toll.
Only you can decide to stop. You have to do some very difficult things, and if you can't then now may not be your time. Once you get through the physical detox, then you will be faced with the mental part of staying clean. For addicts this is something we deal with all of our lives. Cut all sources. Get after care. Two simple things that, if neglected, lead us to relapse.
Good luck. Hundreds of us have done this. I've been clean for 6 months; used 8 - 10 Norco 10s a day for over two years. Keep posting.
Welcome....
The will or the courage is in you already, you don't need to find it. Just a decision is all it is..... Whenever you're ready, sounds like you're getting close.. ;-) we are here. A lot of us got clean here.
Rootin for ya....

You have come to the right place. There are a lot of amazing people here that can help support you. The first thing is that you have identified the reason that you abuse them " The feel good feeling". But you are probably noticing that you have to take more and more to get that feeling as it doesnt last that long anymore and thus the merry go round of chasing it begins and then just spins faster. You need a plan in place,,are you going to just stop taking them all together or taper off them. There are some supplements that can help ease the withdrawals called the Thomas Recipe (scroll down to the bottom right corner). You have to get over the fact that that feeling will be gone for a while when you quit. But you will start feeling good again once the pills get out of your system. You have to kinda relearn and teach your brain that you dont need a pill to do something or feel good. Get rid of this habit now before it consumes your life and then you realize that 8 some years have gone by -like me. Its good that you recognize that you have a problem. Can you get any kind of outside support? Hang in there and keep talking to us ((hugs))~Bkitty
if you do 'really want to stop'...you have found the will. Thats it..thats where you start. If you can stop now while your addiction is manageable...you will save yourself alot of pain and anquish in so many forms. if you dont quit now..i promise you that in a year from now or 2 or 3..you will so wish that you could go back in time to this point...this day..this moment and talk to yourself. you would want to beg yourself to stop now. Please save yourself from the fate and stop now while you still can.
