How to help?

My boyfriend is on day 2 of quitting vicodin cold turkey. I just want to ask all of you who might have been addicts and gone through these terrible withdrawals if you can give me suggestions of anything i can do to help. I have done my best to stay out of his hair... i even slept on the floor last night. we havn't said more then 3 words to each other and i expected all of this... i'm not complaining and i understand what he is going through, but is there anything i can do to help him or make it easier for him or is leaving him alone my best bet?

I get mine from GNC but almost any pharmacy or vitamin place should have it..I like the kind you dissolve under your tongue

where can i get melatonin?

he has been taking them for about 5 years... and within the last year and a half has taken 10 - 15 daily, sometimes more.

Just be there for him... when he does need anything.. Maybe call and ask if he would like anything on your way home from work??  He needs your love and support more than anything right now.. JUst knowing you are there helps alot. His appetite will be back hopefully today or tommorrow.. that is normal.. I only ate cherrios for 3-4 days when I quit. I would pick up some Melatonin and try 3mgs of that tonight to sleep. they make a sublingual one that works fast. I would even take it if I woke up in the middle of the night, Keep him comfy.. he won't feel like talking much.. maybe show him the site though.. he may wanna vent to those that have been in his shoes..

also... I'm at work all day while he sits at home... should i call to make sure he is ok or assume he would call me if he needed anything? i just dont want to be a bother, but I worry.

thank you for the help... i hope it keeps coming. so far i have that he needs to stay hydrated... someone mentioned pedialyte... vitamins, bananas, i didn't think of benadryl, thanks for the suggestion of that. i got him tylenol PM last night, but that didn't help at all, especially cuz its still full of acetaminophen. let me know if you think of anything else. should i coherse him to eat or will he eventually decide he needs to?

Get warm blankets for him {from dryer} when he is chilled.Bring him gatorade.benadryl for sleep runny nose and eyes.Tell him to just yell for you if he needs  anything..Ruthie
