HI......I have been following your story from the start im glad you made it threw the withdrawals ....now on to the next step aftercare....addiction just dosent go away when we detox...most here will tell you getting clean is the ez part its staying clean that takes all the work please dont think aftercare is optional its not as addicts we need to retrain our brains
how to work without the narcotics both N/A or A/A offer free programs there are also substance abuse conslors to work with if you prefer one on one consoling but plug in somewhere...living in recovery takes work....I tell everybody to put as much effort into your aftercare as you did your active addiction and you will enjoy your new clean and sober lifestyle.....I wish you all the best with your recovery....you worked hard to get where your at
congrats on your clean time good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

if u can ask ur dr for some safe meds to help u thru wds..mine were like the flu which i have had a zillion times//100 mgs of hydro for 5 yrs was a tired 4 days with the runs//went to the gym each day tho...had a slight headache and a tad of nausea...no big deal
The thomas recipe rox in the health pages

be sure u dont focus on the week or less of physical wds...make a plan for support//cos it is in the aftermath//the mental portion of addiction that causes relapse 90% of the time for a serious quitter.  a non-serious quitter usually doesnt make it past day 1

That is awesome - It is obvious how liberated you feel, and you should.
Support makes so much of a difference, that is great that you have such a good brother.  Family is so important - I feel so bad for those here who have no one...it is heartbreaking.
Best of luck to you...stay strong and focused.

hey whats up people. its been 3 4 5 days.. something like that. i went cold turkey. taking about 10-15 norcos a day... the second day was the f  kd hardest yo. im here feeling good. feels like im a new person. just gotta get my sleeping habit back. here's what i did. i had my older brother to take couple days off of work. ( he makes alot of money by the way) to support me. he sat at home with me and just talk to me all day. 24/7. we both go on medhelp and read peoples ad. but yes i went cold turkey. so every morning i get up smoke a cigg and walk around the block and come back and shower, den just get back under the blanket and cuddle up and watch tv. and having my brother just asking every min, how you feeling. i tell him im ok. and just try to find something to eat, even though you dont feel like getting up to get. i just try to force myself. then walk around the house or take another walk. just shower up again. and i swear to god, it was like man i dont need pills no more. now i feel so good like im a new person. i have these vitimans, i forget whats its called. its like a passage vitimans that helps your withdrwls and everything. so today i told my brother go ahead and go back to work and ill be ok. im so happy. you can read my first first ad what i went through. let me know if you need help or someone to talk too.. thanks everyone for all your support. really....

Hot baths with epsom salt helps as well.
Sleep deprivation is a difficult symptom to deal with because that alone makes you feel so horrible.  The exercise will help with the sleep (as excrutiating as it may be).  A product that I highly recommend is Natural Calm, it is a powdered blend of calcium and magnesium and it works wonders.
Best of luck - you are not alone.

You can get those things at Walmart or Walgreens.

It's good to go out.  You'll be surprised that you can really do things without pills!!

Plus, you need the exercise. That's what's really going to help you get through this. No
pills!!   Got it??

You can do it!!

Jordan~   You should get a few things at the store that will help you:

Immodium

Super Snooze Melatonin

Hylands Restfull Legs

Gatorade

Be sure to get a lot of fluids in. Take Motrin for aches.  Hot showers/baths will really help you. Take them often!

It's a struggle to not think of the pills in the beginning. It's just something you have to overcome!  Keep distracting yourself. Don't focus on how awful you feel.  Try to eat some food;it will make you feel better!

Keep posting and stay strong!

Well, you are not going to die that's for sure. Withdrawal stinks, I know that but you have to make up your mind that it is what you want to do and just get it done. I know I am making it sound easy and it is not but it is normally 5 or so days of not feeling good to be free from the demon pills.

There is no way to escape the symptoms but we may be able to suggest some things that could help the withdrawal. Just ask, okay?

I am in your same position - I have 3 small children and also take hydro/somas.  I have decided to quit many times, but this time I am determined!  Yesterday, my daughter said "mommy is not feeling good ... again."  I've also heard her say "mommy needs her medicine." What a wake up call!  This is not the example I want to provide for my children!  The w/d are horrible!  I try to give myself small tasks to do - like do the dishes - and when I complete them it feels like I have climbed Mount Everest!  I stumbled upon this site and spend hours reading stories of other people going thru the exact same things we are.  It helps to know we are not alone.  I am ready not to be dependent on a pill for happiness.  It is hard w/ having kids at home, but keep in mind that in the long run this will be the BEST thing for your boy!  - FYI - I found eating bananas helps w/ the leg cramps and have practically been living in my bathtub!

Hi welcome here, jordan

you have taken the best decision , addiction is always progressive, the sooner you quit , the best....wds will last just for a few days, ... think of a flu  and after them, work on your recovery, this is very important, making some life changes and aftercare ( NA meetings, therapy, addiction counseling,... )

Read the thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol, you can find some good advices there to alleviate some of those symptoms... good luck !!! :)

There are OTC meds that will help with the withdrawls. It's good you have decided to quit. Your son needs you all the time, regardless if you have pills or not. That is why I quit because I have a daughter. The withdrawls won't last to long and you will feel better. Immodium is something I had to take!!!!
