Coming off Meth

I'm ashamed to say that I've been on this evil drug Methadone for the past two years and just recently about four days ago I came off it, I just stopped taking it and those four days have been hell so far as to say the least. So what my question is, is that having lost the initial withdrawral pains but I'm still getting some massive emotional feelings such as one minute I'm happy then the next I feel really susicidal and its been like that since I gave it up. So what I'm asking is will these feelings subside? or will they carry on for a bit? If possible could you please reply ASAP. Thank you.

HI Paul glad you found your way here...im 171 days clean of methadone was on 150ml
for 6 1/2yrs so it was slow going for me...if your past the physical part in 4 days count your blessings it hung on to me for a good 7 days....with that said the emotional thing
kida takes a wile to get squared away it like life starts coming at you at 100 miles an hour and yes your emotions will swing from one extream to the other in the blink of an eye
it's called 'rebound emotion' and methadone dosent get you high per-say it  does quite ones mind and you don't realize that till your off of it....what your experiencing is normal
it does get better with time...how long is different for everyone once you get a month under you belt things will start to settle down a bit and you'll get use to life back in tec/na/color again so just hang in there sounds like your past the worst of it keep coming here for support and posting will all help you thew this good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Hello.  I take methadone too and have tapered down to 9 a day from 30 at the highest.It has a long half life,which is how long it stays in your system.When I drop it is at 2 week intervals,by then I can drop some more.I have been on it over 4 years,but WILL be done with it in about a month.
Don,t know how much you were on,but it will hang on for a couple of weeks.Eat healthy if you can and drink lots of water to flush it out.  GOOD LUCK.                           karl

Welcome to the forum Paul. I have never been on methadone, but there are many here that have and can give you some great advice. I do know it meth is very hard to come off and takes longer than other drugs. How many mg's did you just come off of? What was the reason you started methadone? Stick around, this is a great support group and you will get some feedback soon from those that have been on it.

It will get better, but your so early off it and it can be a nightmare. Hang tough man and congrats on stopping. Best of luck.
