Hang in there ipn! I'm on my second day off of Fentanyl patch and hydro. Little sleep. Thrashing in the sheets mostly. Flu-like, achy. Seems to be getting some better at times. I pray for a good night's sleep tonight for both of us.

Bec1, get him into rehab. Maybe the Doc can prescribe subxocome to help with the discomfort of withdrawal. It's not gonna get any better as long as he is still taking the pills. Drinking with, could be fatal.

Good luck all and best wishes for a Happy Clean New Year!

I am so relieved to hear this. That is the Dr helping you, not the high BP. Many Drs (not all) are good, once they realize where you are at.

My husband is very addicted to percocet 7.5 and vicodin 7.5. He had a very bad injury at work in 1999 and in 2004 had to have knees replaced. Surgery did not go well and he continues to have severe pain in his legs along with the arthritis that has developed. The doctors say he will have to deal with this pain for his life so they continue to prescrip him the percocet and vicodin every month to take everyday. He takes so many now in one day that he runs out in a week and a half and is miserable until he can get more medication. I have tried distributing them to him but he ends getting furious with me and even has accused me of taking his pills. What can I do? How can I help him. He has been getting violent lately because he tries too make the pain pills stronger by drinking vodka with them. He never used to drink except once in a great while if we went out. Now he drinks every day. We have been married for 25 years and this has just changed my husband. He now blames me for everything. We have no children at home so it is just he and I. Help someone please. I do not want to lose my husband.

Day 5 for me and for most they started to feel better. It was like I could see light at the end of this tunnel. Each day after that you will see improvement over the day before. I can't stress enough the importance of fluids, vitamins and supps. They help to rebuild your body after detoxing and after what using the drugs did to it.
I missed the part about the ears ringing. Many take something for the blood pressure. You could get it measured. Fire stations will usually do it for free.

Day 3 and 4 are rough. Plan on it. Drink lots of water. Gatorade help replace electrolytes lost due to sweats and diarrhea. Immodium on hand is good. Take it for comfort, not just because. Sweating & diarrhea serve as mechanisms of detox.
Hot baths are your friend. Way to go on this decision. You are doing good. Hang in there!

Sorry to hear you're going thru all this.  Can you try Suboxone?  You won't have to endure withdrawals if you use it to get off the drugs. The key is to only use it for a few days to a couple of weeks to get thru the acute phase of withdrawals and then taper off it fast so that you don't replace one addiction for another.
Good luck to you...hang in there (and cancel those refills - that is just a disaster waiting to happen)

In my journals I re-posted the 'Thomas recipe'. You might take a look at it and see what would help you through this process. Lots of water, vitamins and supplements are key to your success. elieve it or not, chocolate helps too. Bananas help the legs.

I would venture to say that anytime is a good time to decide "i'm an addict and want to be clean".  I hope it's not as bad...you only had 3 pills for your "relapse". that's not bad.  remember, relapse is often a part of the recovery. don't beat yourself up too much... you are doing great by being here._rebel

I can't say for sure. If I understand you, you were already clean and then slipped today? If that's the case it probably won't be too bad. I sure hope so. Take care of yourself. We need those nurses around you know. Merry Christmas, too.
