is ecstacy addictive?

I have a child 18, that has all the symptoms of "X" use. I have in the past even found a pill or 2. He recently admitted to a family friend that he "rolls". (new lingo for me, but I'm learning!) What should I be looking for as far as personality changes and any other signs. Is this stuff addictive and how often do people who do this **** do it? Help..It's killing our family.(the drugs) Congrats to all of you who are now drug free and/or trying to make it! Life is to short to spend it jacked up!. Thanks!

We have drug tested him. However, I found a bottle of urine in his room. I know now what that was for. Haven't done it since. How long does the stuff stay in your system. As far as a urine test? I also to let you know about my morning, found a bag of ex 10-15 pills in his pant pockets. I'm just n sooo deep I can't cope~! He is at home now b/c he was so upset that I found them. We have a 115p appt to see his therapist. Is there any hope left? I can't get him into rehab apparently until he agrees. I've been told he can walk away anytime. I can't get help!

Small pupils sounds like he's using opiates to me. As long as he's living under your roof, I believe you have every right to spring a drug test on him. You can buy them at any drug store, and make sure you get one that tests for many different drugs. You have to stay on top of him. That's how my mom has helped me in the past- she stayed on my ***! Good luck!

Is he addicted to it? I am very afraid and the feeling of helplessness is overwhelming. I just dont understand the power of this stuff. I just need to know how often an addicted person takes it and what I'm looking for. Like you, I pray about it all the time. Lord, hear our prayers! Take care.

My son who is 27 swears X is pure. "like what you recieve when you're born from the ambiblical cord" oh there is no way to convince him it is poison.  I'm so frightened for him but he, like me, has to find his bottom. God Please help them  in Jesus name.

Wow! Thanks for all of your help! (everyone) I just found this forum and already it's been quite resourceful and inspiring! I have tried for the last few months to get him to get help, but he refuses. Says he doesnt need it! HA. He has had coke and weed that we have found, more than once. Lately though, he has had strange looking eyes.(very small pupil and tired looking) I have noticed a powdery look around his mouth. I have had NO exper. w/drugs and am making myself crazy trying to figure it all out. But, I think its a matter of him WANTING to stop. Until then, I'm stuck! I never thought I would say this, but I can stand for him to use a little pot, just this other **** that scares me to death. Take care everyone and stay strong! I will keep checking in.

Don't forget too much water!!!! A girl died in our area last year from over - consumption of water...She literally drowned herself trying to prevent dehydration at a rave.  Scary.  Get as much SCARY info as you can and leave it on his bed.  It usually takes something scary to get the younguns to realize they are not invinceable.

Pay very close attention to the thirsty part. Many kids do not understand dehydration - I do - and it will kill you faster than the dope if you arent careful. Maybe even get some gatorade for him or another sport type drink......dehydration is quite common when on a roll and its no joke...............Ecstacy doesnt normally contain methamphetamine. Thats a different ball game......but you do not have any quality control with it. I have seen chemists in rural Mexico laughing about the Gringo's that actually buy and consume their product. I truly hope that the world is run by Karma!!!

People who use ectasy can’t be sure of what they are cosuming because ectasy tablets are made illegally in some countries, it's a Category Substance 1 here in US and since it's manufactured illegally and contains meth it is highly addictive and may contain other  ingredients that can be addictive and poisonous.

Other lingo to look out for associated with methylenedioxymethylamphetamine (MDMA), but it also has other names most populars, for example Ectasy, X, E, Adam, XTC, Hug, Beans, Clarity, Essence, Stacy, Lover’s speed, Eve, Mitsubishis, Rolexes, Dolphins, Superman, etc. These names are often known by the logo stamped on them.

I went thru this in high school for about 4 months. I believe it was the beginning of the end for me. No I guess it's not addicting, but mentally it is. I remember it being the best feeling I had ever had. I loved EVERYONE! Just getting a simple massage was better than anything you've ever felt in your life. So, in that way it was addicting. The whole, everyone else is doing it- is also a factor. They aren't cheap (I believe $25/pill), so if he's ALWAYS broke- that's a good indication. If he complains about his mouth/teeth hurting, that's also a sure sign. While on this drug, you spend hours clenching your teeth. The next day, you feel horrible. After using day after day, I felt very paranoid, and my back killed me. While on the drug- your pupils are extremely large. I doubt he's coming around you while he's still "rolling". If he's attending Rave parties, it's almost definite that he's using. It may only be experimental right now, but it could turn into a serious problem if he doesn't get help. Extasy is very deadly. You don't know what goes into each pill. While on it- you are in no position to be driving, or really doing anything "normal". Typically people huff stuff while on it (duster, nitrice oxcide, ect.). Please pay attention to his actions closely. He may seem very depressed. This is also a sign. I started "rolling" a little, and thought it was no big deal... 5-6 years later I was shooting heroin. Maybe share some of the posts on here with him. Definitely do what you can to help him.

Thanks! I need all of the help I can get! It's so sad to see a straight A kid, loved sports, good kid, turn in such a bad direction. All he wants is to hang with friends that are "new". He's managed to lose all of his close friends.(i'm sure b/c of his choices.) He is extremely tired and thirsty. appettite is pretty good. I just think we're in pretty deep. Not sure what to do! I have a 20 yr old and his stories even scare me...and I kind of wrote the stupid book. The stuff isnt flat out physically addictive. But neither is cocaine. Some people get on binges that last several days to weeks. Look for personality changes. Maybe changes of interest in activities - depending on what his choices are. Staying up or out for long periods of time and conversely sleeping or resting for long periods to make up for lost sleep. Also totally worn out feelings. Try to keep communication open with him. Maybe find a few posts here from ex-users that chronicle their own experiences. I know there are some in the archives that will curl your hair!! And best of luck to you.......I am also a Boy Scout leader and really enjoy doing things with my guys ....
