Hey there thanks for the posts they do help. Yes im just feeling very weak and tired like a ragdoll thats been beat against a wall. Still no good sleep, 15-20 mins here and there. Extreme lack of energy and motivation i try to force myself to get up and get stuff around the house done but concentration is no good and i find myself either downing advil hopping in a hot bath or back in bed. Im sneezing like crazy coughing also just very lathargic and weepy. I have been through withdrawl CT a couple years ago and do not remember some of these symptoms I have now, which is why im wondering about the methadone. I was taking opiates vicodin 750mg norco 10/325 sometimes oxy from 30-80 mgs. as many as 25 a day, for the last 6 years with the 2 last years getting worse. Im just so discouraged right now, I will try to keep pushing through.
Hi there. Before the widespread use suboxone/subutex, all in patient opioid detoxes (here in NZ)were facilitated with the help of short term( less than 3 weeks) methadone tapers. So people presenting with an addiction to any opioid were prescribed decreasing doses of methadone for the duration of their stay with an additional week or so drug free to treat any lingering symptoms. I did 2 detoxes in this manner coming off of a heroin addiction and found that i was feeling much better physically within 1 week of my last methadone dose and i steadily improved each day thereafter. From memory it was at least 1 month to 6 weeks before i felt close to "normal".
I just wanted to encourage you to persevere. Things will definately improve provided you are steadfast in your commitment to remain drug free. As Gnarly said, a positive attitude will be your greatest asset and will serve you well on those days when you feel dejected and flat. This is all fairly normal.
All the best. Regards Jeremy.
HI.....well I wish I could honestly tell you but everyone that has use methadone bailed on me b/4 I could find out how months 2 and 3 went for them....im just going off common sense and it tells me in 21 days the stuff really dosent have a chace to get its hooks in you 2 deep
if your on it for a yr or more 90 days is a typical recovery....what are you feeling now
are you still achey or is it just a major crash in energy ?? liquid B-complex helps if you take it in the morning your not as bad off in the afternoon ...a lot of this is also going to depend on how long and hard of habit you broke off with the methadone...being realistic a month
recovery should cover the methadone and a fairly substantial habit....try not to get discouraged you will get better...and remember a positive attitude will help more then any other single thing you can do.....right now your body and brain are going threw major changes it going to take some time for thing to get back to normal....are you sleeping yet?? sorry about all the questions but the more info I have the more I can try and help you post back and I will be back on later to see if I can help more...hang in there this might not be as bad as you think.....and please stick around and let me know how this goes for you both short and long term I would love to have someone as an example to go by but as of now all I got is the beginning of the story for short term use...and feeling like you got hit by a truck is pritty normal coming off methadone no mater how long you been on it....I will wait to here from you good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
find gnarly_1. he seems to be the expert around here when it comes to methadone. keep your head up. it all takes time. it's a tough way to learn patience, but you'll be glad when you get YOU back. i promise.
