it takes a while for our bodies to feel normal without pills, what you are going through is called post acute wd, i have a journal about it on my page, its a medical journal, not a personal account
the xanax will make you tired, but the weight loss issues may mean something else is going on
what was the original problem? what health problem got you to take the pain meds?
My oldest son took xanax for awhile, he says it will kick your #%$ bigtime! I hope you can slowly wean yourself down and off of that stuff, I know it works but it isn't for everyone, I wish Dr.s wouldn't prescribe it. My son said it will mess with your head when trying to just quit without weaning off, it is highly addictive.
I don't think it is the lyrica, I can't say for sure for you but I know I take both lyrica and cymbalta and yes, I am gaining weight and proud of it!! I never weighed over 102-106 in my life until I started taking this stuff. I know some that don't want the weight gain tho.
I hope you can at least have the xanax changed to something less, tranzene or something I know some people need these meds, but not xanax.
Ella
Ill check out your the journal.
I was taking the pain killers for low back and neck pain, both are very real, but no real diagnoses...as well as stomach problems i have been having....test after test after test, and nothing...modern medicine has failed me in every way shape or form. Taking percocet for my back and neck made my stomach problem better by slowing down the digestion process.
To Ella;
Ill look into gettin put on something lower, does it help replace the xanax? or do u have to get off the xanax entirely on its own.
Frequently a Doc will put you on a longer acting benzo than zanax when you try and quit. Zanax is a very short acting benzo.
its best to taper of xanax when doing an at home detox, i know what you mean with stomach problems being a mystery, i recently had an mri, hydo scan, untra sound, nothing showed up but i was very sick
hopefully you will feel better after some time, oh, and yes the tenex can replace the xanax
but keep in mind i do not take narcotic medication, so i settle for the effect of tenex when i need it (works well when you are going through chemo) but its not going to give you that loopy feeling xanax will
I wish I knew what to tell you for sure. I think perhaps if you could ask your Dr. if you could possibly try something less than the xanax because youre afraid of the addiction that comes with this potent med. I know it does help you and I also know all to well that during w/d xanax helped but it really does mess with your head if you don't wean-off it. and I can't even tell you how to do that.without making matters worse for you :( I also know that any of this stuff can be addicting, that's the sad part!! Just a lesser of two evils I guess. Like 3eagle said "a longer acting benzo than xanax." Yeah, it would replace the xanax.
My youngest son has an Under-weight prob too, I have been after him for months now to go get some blood work done and he won't do it. He is of age and I can no longer make him do anything, he has to do this on his own. He is under stress, takes an antidepressant, but goes to college full time and runs with the buds the rest of the time. I'm just a mom but I still worry abt all three of my boys, even tho they are grown!
