Welcome! I am glad you are here, and I wish you success and happiness in your quest for good health and alternative ways to help your back. There are many ways to help bad backs now that didn't exist even 5 years ago. If you had to pick a time in history to have a bad back, this is a good time! Did your pain medicine really help your back? Often, PT, decompressive therapy, TENS therapy, ice/heat, massage, anti-inflammatory drugs, and even biofeedback can help more than opiates. Being an RN, I think they are all good, including opiates, but if people take them, they and the doctor must be vigilant about the possibility of habituation and needing more and more for the same level of relief. Ideally, they should be given sparingly for flareups only.
How was your detox? Did you quit cold? That's not easy. I give you props for that!
Again, welcome, and if I may help you in any way, I'd be honored. See you again soon!---Margaret

Thanks L N M . Newlfe Mike so cool to have people respond. k I actually push myself to go to home depot and buy some blinds but it took so long I left and went back home. tomorrow I plan to mow the yard will see how that goes. I have learned so much on here. I know 1 day at a time very well stop drinking 10 years ago. but I do have to consider what I'm gonna do for the pain in my back. I have options to consider but it won't be narcotics. again thank you for your replies. little while longer and gonna try and close my eyes again. good night

Hey notme... It's really a great decision to stop! I was taking very high amounts of Oxys for a year long. It was no fun stopping but by around the point where u r (day 5/6) it got better and now more than 2 months later...virtually nothing to complain of. So it's really worth it! Stick around here and post whenever somethings up cuz it's a great support network.

Hi notme,

Congrats on day 5 tomorrow!  You should be over the worst of it by then, although sleep may be the last thing to return, I know it was for me when I would cold turkey.  Just keep strong and know that you WILL return to the "you" that you were before.  I would advise maybe trying some exercise tomorrow if you can - even 10 or 15 minutes will help.  Keep reading and posting :)

So many stories are just like mine. Of course my doctor would never give me that many. Had plenty of pickups 4 hydro and oxy. most symptoms are gone here it is after 2 am still awake eyes running like a faucet can't sleep so I might as well read. thank you for the encouragement. I will be strong.

Hello Notme. Glad you're here and feeling better. This is a great place to find hope and great people! I was on prescribed meds for my back as well, then I "graduated" to street hook ups and went downhill from there. Welcome and
keep reading and posting. Congrats on 4 days clean! For me, day 4 was the
worst. It gets better. A LOT better! Hang in there.
