Withdrawal Question

Hydro issue, currently on Day 11 after 40 mg/day for 4 months.  Day 3 was the worst, then it got a lot better on Day 4.  Thought I was out of the woods, but Days 9, 10 and 11, I have had very severe fatigue, aches and pains.  Is it possible that this is still part of the w/d, *even though* I got past the worst part of it and had a stretch of 4 or 5 good days?

I'm wondering if I have a bug, but not sure. Is the w/d process not always a "straight-line" process?  Could my body still be dealing with the adjustment?

I actually hope so, because the way I feel, I'd like to attribute it to something specific.  Thanks.

I am also on day 11. I was over 2 years 180 mg mscontin and lots of percs. Mine was after plane crash. I was so scared of withdrawals as I  had failed an attempt that I did everything I could (I learned from this site) to help. All the vitamins and stuff, and I forced myself to walk, It was an effort during the day to get off the couch. I had a pretty good day today. I so thank God that there is forgiveness. The life that was sucked out of me is coming back. I refuse to believe anything negative. Most of everthing on this site is pretty positve.

Yes it's very normal to have good days and bad days.Since your time on the pills was fairly short and the amount you were takeing was not very much, I would have to guess, you will be feeling alot better around day 20. Just be sure to take vitamins and maybe some protein drinks to replenish your body. Get some exercise too.
Hope your feeling better soon. Remember in the future, should you have surgery etc, that it will be very easy for you to become dependant on the pills again. Use them only if absolutely needed and for a very short time.
Good luck.

Congrats on day 11. What you are experiencing is normal withdrawl. The physical part is over and now the mental stuff begins. Although you will continue to feel better most days it will be awhile before you are totally back to "normal". You will have good days and many will be tolerable but you will have fatigue for awhile and emotional ups and downs as well. Did you get the aminos and vitamines from Thomas recipe? Also read the articles about cravings and PAWS 1 and 2 to understand what to expect. Also EXERCISE, work up a sweat and try to keep busy.  I am on week 8 and am still getting emotional ups and downs and some fatigue and sleep problems. It does keep getting better though. Read as much as you can from the health pages and know what to expect. That way you can prepare yourself . This is hard and noone gets back to their old self in weeks. Have faith that it does get better and remember that you were once happy wo pills. Using always and can only lead to more suffering so even for people who don't feel normal for months it has been worth the alternative. Stay strong and keep posting when you need help. Feel free to send a PM if you need xtra support. Corey

Thanks for the information.  Mine was prescribed post-surgery in January, and Dr. kept giving me refills when my pain didn't subside.

I didn't like where I thought the situation was going and I searched out this forum.  It gave me the insight I needed to decide I needed to quit this stuff.  One thing I found to be true that I read about on here was that the pain actually diminished when I quit taking the meds.  (Only now it has returned the past 3 days, so bummer).

This thread is my first time posting here, but for about 3 weeks, this forum has been an invaluable resource.  I admire so many of the people whose posts I have read.  I can't imagine the courage it takes to kick some of the habits of the magnitude I've read about.

When I decided to quit, I wrote my doctor a very diplomatic letter that I wasn't satisfied with my post-surgery treatment.  I actually took the last prescription he wrote me and stapled it to my letter and gave it back to him.  That was very liberating and I felt it put me back in control.

Pretty much everything I've read on here focuses on w/d during the first 7-14 days, with the worst at about the 3-4 day mark.  As to residual effects like what I am experiencing at Day 11, is it still possible for me to hope that Day 14 or so will be the end, or be near the end of it?

Thanks for everything, God bless you all.

There is no "set time" for w/d to end. You are still getting through them. Some people are through at 4=5 days, with a habit such as yours. Others may require 3 weeks, or more.
You'll be alright. Best regards. And let this be a little lesson to you. Don't use again.

Good for you, for taking back control of your life!!  I don't or haven't used,  but I am helping my 21 yr old daughter get thru oxy w/d, she is currently at about day 34.  I came to the forum to get as much info as possible,  and one theme that I have seen is that fatigue is extremely common in w/d, in fact I posted a question regarding this because my daughter had been so lethargic,  and hers too seemed to begin  about 2 weeks into the process.

Diet and vitamins are so very important at this time, please take good care of your body and keep it norished.   Healthy decisions to help your body thru the adjustment period may not eliminate all of the side effects, but they will ease the trauma.

There will be others posting that have first hand experience with w/d and its symptoms, but I just wanted to share with you what I have seen my daughter experience with w/d and the lethargic exhaustion was definately a part of the process.

Take good care of yourself,  stay strong!
