methadone withdrawl

hello...I have read endless forums regarding methadone lately.  one thing I definitely see is it seems like nobody feels they were substantially warned about how tough it will be coming off of it.
my question is this-are there any stories of people jumping off successfully and without much difficulty?
I joined the "program" about a year and a half ago-I had become quite a mess-had gone to the point of injecting pills-something I always swore I would NEVER do.  In no time I was up to 130mls but had stopped using any street pills altogether and no longer woke up every day with angst in my body about where my "fix" was coming from that day.
Then I decided to relocate to the caribbean and after research and finding out what a pain it will be as a meth patient (pardon the pun) I decided it was time to divorce my "lifesaver".
I started going down by 10/wk until I got to 60-then I was getting ill-I stayed at 55 for a few wks to let my body  catch up and last week went to 50.
I am hoping to be totally off within 2 months-I want to be in a warmer climate before winter hits-I am in  canada.......

I have been waiting a long time to be able to do this.

I am single -40-with no kids....

I'd love to hear any and ALL feedback.....

and best of luck to YOU ALL :)

Gnarly-when you say it took you 3 months does that mean you were sick for that time or that it took you that long to taper??

Thanks for answering and congrats on your success... That was somewhat encouraging but on the other hand not so much...
You see there's no way I would endure 10 days of being ill....when I was doing pills (injecting)  I was known among the crowd as the one who was the sickest.  Some people handle it but I gt SO ILL there's no way I could go 10 days.
I am now at 45 and going down 5/week.  I wake up and have to put my helmet on and get on my bike and go DIREcTLY to the pharmacy practically before I pee.
I have been buying meth on the street and having bak-up in thed fridge but that's not a good idea either...
I am trying to move to Belize but meth isn't aavailable there, otherwise I would just go down slowly and be fine.
At this point I am onsidering using pills for awhile to get off the juice-how ironic is that??
Thanks again for the encouragement-have u tried suboxone??
veronica :)

HI......now that your dose is lower you will have to go a bit slower......where not aloud to give out taper plan on line but slow and steady wins the race take you time and it is very doable it not so much getting to 1 that dose it it is the recovery time that is killer you can get well in a month or you may take 3 mo lke I did just know it is so so worth it once it it said and done your goal is on the fast side but doable if your disciplined keep posting for support there is a few members that have done it good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

I went c/t @ 40 mg methadone & 240 mg of oxy in February of 2011 and I'm clean to day with one relapse 6 months ago,, my mother n law took me in for 12 days, took my car key, cell phone & pretty much locked me up... All I had was my laptop It was HELL for 10 day but like everyone says it does get better... I lived in a hot tub for those 10 day that was the only thing to help... I did not have accesse to clondine or anything like that... Most important I had to want to be clean!!!!!! Good luck man if I can do it anyone can, think of it like this your going to be n hell for 10-14 days but free for the rest of your life if your careful !!!!
