methadone detox at home

Has anyone detoxed from methadone cold turkey? Im on 12 mg, I was planning on using vicodin and xanax in a taper form to use in place of the methadone and then taper with them.  Any ideas? How many 750's of vicodin is equivilent to 12 mg of meth??

hi read your post..I was at a methadone clinic for over two years was at 70mg for the greater part of that, tapered down to 10(the clinic I was at didnt dispense below that) and jumped 10days ago...not going to lie it has been tough but it is doable...the first day wasnt so bad guess bc of half life but the next four are rough the thomas recipe was given to me I used the vitamins and some sleep aids (they didnt work much until day 8 or so) I didnt use benzos maybe it would have made it easier but it just takes time...wishing you the best and when they say its mostly mental its true..you really got to want it!!!

Would be pointless to replace an opiate with another, best benzo to use is Valium, I'm currently clean off methadone since July 5th 2011 and this is how I did it ( the Thomas recipe for opiate addiction) look that up be everything you need.

HI its never a good idea to use another narcotic to grt off one you wind up cross addicted methadone withdrawals last a long time you will be addicted to the vicaden b/4 the methadone withdrawal is over you best bet is just biting the bullet and jumping although I would recamend tapering down some more b/4 you jump trying to use vicaden as a get out of jail card wont work it will just postpone the inevitable good luck with your detox......Gnarly

Are you taking the methadone to get OFF of the vicoden?  Or was it for another drug?

It's best to check with your Dr. on how to taper as we can't give out that kind of advice here - it could be dangerous since we don't know your medical history.

But it is GREAT that you WANT to quit - definitely the place to start!  :)
