methadone withdrawal

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone can give me some tips of what to do after methadone?  I have been on it for a few years after lengthy addiction to pain pills.
Right now I am on 4mg.  Is there any point to go back to clinic and pay for another week and taper to  2mg etc.  I didnt go today but called them and they told me I should come in tomorrow.  I am dealing with the insomnia, thats not new, the nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach, and the skin crawling feeling at night is the worst.  But today I'm cold.
Any suggestions would be great.

TEENA is right I often wait to tell people about this but walmart carys whey protein shake mix for 15 bucks in a 2 lb can the chocolate flavor is good and like TEENA says it contains a lot of ecential amino acids as well as vitamins and the protein all of witch your body needs to heal this is not a quick cure but rather a building block to getting healthy again ....I only wish I had found out about them sooner drink 2 a day all you do is mix it with milk.........Gnarly

You can do this.... many here have- I'm 115 days off methadone. Gnary1 suggested whey protein shake when i went thru it. it has amino acids that help and some days it was all i could get down. Good luck keep posting and keep a tub filled w/nice hot water nearby - it will help to soak. TEENA

HI and welcome to the forum.....well its really up to you jumping at 4mg jump starts your recovery buy a couple of weeks I tapered down to 1 from 150 and tapering below 5 was miserable and my final withdrawal was no worst then tapering below 5 so I tell everyone jump and just go threw the withdrawals there is no getting around them you go threw them no mater how you go off its just a mater of how soon you start get yourself a case of gatoraid and some highlands restful legs you can pick both up at walmart your final withdrawl will make you wish you where dead for about a 7 day week then comes the post withdrawals I always say its not so much the withdrawal that makes methadone so hard to kick but the post withdrawal energy crash and the lack of sleep will drive you crazy....in the beginning a hot soak will realeave most of the symptoms force the fluids and move around as much as possible short walks at first work your way up from there .....what your about to embark on is difficult to say the least but with some will power and perseverance it is doable the first month is pritty ruff your dope sick most of the month the second month your not as sick but you dont seam to be getting well ether its around 90 days that most people turn the corner and start getting welll its a grind to go threw but so so worth it in the end hang in there keep posting for support we all want to see you get well if you like messege me anytime to talk or vent  I have been there with a lot of people and can help you threw this line up some N/A meetings now your going to need the added support we can only do so much by computer you need real people good luck and God bless.....Gnarly,,,,btw wile at walmart pick up a 3 in one vitamin ....calcium/magnesium/zinc and start taking 4 in the morning and 4 with diner this will greatly reduse your withdrawals.....
