morphine detox without medications or hospitalization

My brother is addicted to morphine. He is currently going through detox on his own. He can't hold down any food or much of any liquids. Is it possible to detox on your own without medications? Hospitalization is a possible option but is there a chance of being Baker Acted? CanI help him do this on his own?

Just speaking from my own experience-Suboxone worked wonders. Best Wishes.

I detoxed at home and sorta in the hospital........main issue is hydration if he isnt keeping things down. Use continuous ice chips in mouth and get some pedialyte electrolyte replacement fluid at Walgreens (or wherever...) - - ensure type protein drinks (Walgreens has good store brand..) will be good in a day or two. Use immodium for loose stools and emetrol for the nausea vomiting........start with these things for home at first........or get pro help if its doable.......

Just 40 some days off Morphine long story short its not easy but can be done at home.
Morphine will act on the muscles in the throart and make it hard to even drink water at times. I have no idea what this Baker Act is but he should be fine  on a legal basis in a hospital. By far a hospital is way more idea they will IV flush him, give him some meds to ease the Wds and in a week or 10 days be clean. However depending on how long he has been using and the amount and most important his age these will play a big factor on how long it will take hime to feel Ok again. It can take months. Oral morphine is very addicting and right up there with the other big ones but can be done.
Peace

The Baker Act shouldn't be an issue. And yes, you can detox alone. It's uncomfortable, but rarely life threatening. How much was he taking and for how long? Has he tried quitting before? Does he have a plan for aftercare? Is the morphine legally prescribed? Just some questions so we can be of better help...
