Has anyone tryed naltrexione, what did you think of it?

naltrexone or in tablet form i think it is called revia..is an opioid antagonist saturating the opioid receptors to block the effects of opioids like codeine/hydrocodone/morphine/oxycodone/exc......so the idea is that if you took the revia daily and then took an opioid like say vicodin, the revia would block the effects of the vicodin and thus...no hydrocodone hitting the receptors and no high..however it would be very easy just not to take the revia and then of course it would have no effect...so i dont know how effective it would be but if someone stuck with taking it everyday it would be very effective

I been taking naltexone for 3 wks since doing a rapid detox, I think of it as my reason not to take as it is a long acting opiate blocker and 1 50mg tab stays in your system for up to 72hrs. The first few days (if you have opiates in your system)are hell but, after that it's ok. For me, it's the best thing I have done in the 10/11 yrs i've been on methadone heroin etc. I wouldn't and couldn't do without it as i know i would be taking again right now. I hope this helps.

I wish I could get back on naltrexone, but if you are still physically dependent, it will throw you into instant total w/d's.  I couldn't hack it after the rapid detox, which I did twice!  I was coming off methadone, and even after four weeks of suffering while on the natrexone (opiate free), not b/c of the naltrexone, just b/c my body could not handle the chemical readjustment to no opiates.

I hope to get on Subutex soon, and work my way to naltrexone, now that it's been almost six months since the mathadone.  anyone have experience on Subutex/Suboxone now that its been around a month?  If so, please provide detailed insights, please!  Thanks.  -still freezing

Hi - I'm on Suboxone maintenance and have been for a couple months.  I'm really doing well with it, and my insurance is paying for most of it which is a really nice change for me!

I can't believe you've been through 2 rapid detoxes!  Why?  If it didn't work the first time, what made you go again?  I've heard nothing be negative things about it.

I've read a lot of your posts, and it sounds like you could really benefit from some sort of maintenance program.  Suboxone gives you so much more freedom than Methadone if you can truly adhere to the prescribed dosage.  If you can't, then Methadone might be the way.  You can learn a lot about Methadone from atwatchdog.org.  It is a great site.

Subutex will NOT be available for maintenance, and it isn't even available for detox in the U.S. yet.  Suboxone is exactly the same except it has Naloxone in it.  The Naloxone remains inactive unless you try to shoot it up.

Everyone, anyone, please read freezing's warning about Naltrexone (or Nalaxone). No one should EVER take either drug except under the supervision of a qualified addiction/detox doctor. If you're taking opiates for pain and/or because you're opiate dependent, a dose of either Naltrexone or Nalaxone will instantly throw you into ACUTE opiate withdrawal. Nothing you've experienced before will prepare you for that agony.

hello , you said your on the suboxone program , I'm trying to get on it , they keep saying that they can't get it in ? any suggestions as to where i can go online or whom to call I'm in montana and they say it's hard to get  as it's not the Big city there yet are willing to get me on the program which is great but if i can't get suboxone then how am I to be helped ? can it be ordere from other pharmacies do you know ?any info I would be soooooo appreciated

Hi - it should be available everywhere in the U.S. at this point, and yes your pharmacy can order it.  You can try calling Nick Rueter at Samhsa 301-443-0457.  He put me in touch with my doctor.  He should be able to offer you some advice.

You have to really get on the pharmacies case though...try to find out who their wholesaler is and call them to ask about it.  Also, if your doctor is certified to prescribe Suboxone, he can order it straight from the manufacturer.  For more information, go to www.Suboxone.com.  Call the number listed there and ask them for info.  I think your best bet is either getting your doctor to order it or asking him to get on your pharmacy's case.

PLEASE READ MY RECENT POST CALLED NALTROXONE WARNING,,,My friend was put on this drug and without proper info from her doctor took pills and ended up puking blood without an hour and rushed to ER. They said 10 mins later she would have died choking on her own puke. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS DRUG. Take with precuation and only if there is zero chance of relapse. It will kill you
