need some info

I know the signs that someone is using heroin...but what about when they are coming off of heroin?...My boyfriend has been abusing it since he was 16, (he is now 19) and he tells me he wants to stop but he doesnt think he can do it alone..i have been helping him, but he seems exactly the same as before he "started to stop"...wouldnt there be any withdrawls or is this all just an act and he really hasnt stopped at all?

If he can do it in a detox faciltiy it would be best.  I kicked in a juvenile detention place (kid jail) basically cold turkey and was very sick.  I had valium but saved it up for a week in the hopes of getting in that one last high --- thats what addiction does to people.  Before that I was a sweet little girl of 14.  Loved my animals and my mama.   That never stopped but heroin took everyone and everything that ever meant anything to me.    It left a shell of what I once was yet I had the brains to see what I had lost and in there lies the prison of addiction.

Your man is still using is my bet.   You would have known in a big way if he detoxed and was clean.  If he refuses to go get help you should take care of yourself hun.   Oh, you can help find a detox facility for him.   Other than that he has got to get clean and then learn to LIVE clean.
good luck

Welcome to the forum,

Heroin was my drug of choice over the years only Dilaudid injections were close when I got older...
A couple of points made above are very true:
Heroin withdrawl is really bad, three years of using he would be very bad throwing up, terrible diarrhea
hot and cold chills sweats, sleeping distortions...........and horrible cravings......

I also agree that detox of Heroin should be done in a medical setting......long time Heroin use
if stopped abruptly run the risk of seizures.....

He is still using that is for sure........remember Heroin addicts are great liars.........but it is not there fault........
The first time they use is their choice but now his addiction controls many of his thought processes and emotions.....
Another sad fact is you cannot get him to stop, he must do that on his own.....
He probably still loves you but his addiction will keep you second don't take it personal.......

Get him into detox anyway you can............
His addiction is powerful it will fight you tooth and nail...........you are looking the devil in the eyes....
You have to be firm and not worry about hurting someones feelings........

The man you fell in love with is absent what you see when you look at him now is an addict......sorry

He would be feeling bad if he quit... I went through heroin Wd myself many times and it is not pretty.. It can be done from home but he would have a greater chance at success in quiting without relapsing if he got some kinda of professional help...

Heroin detox needs to be taken care of by a treatment center or through a doctor. I'd urge you to get him to a treatment center. If he doesn't, I'd run, not walk away from him. You have to take care of yourself, and this is not a life you want. I know you love him, but this is serious stuff.
