Hope does exist!

Thank you all for your help and advice.  Just wanted to share a little background about me and my family.  Six months ago my daughter gave birth to our first grandchild "Maddison".  My daughter gave me the privilege to give Maddison her middle name, so I gave her the name of Hope.  I told her that everyone needs a little Hope in their life and that every time she looks at her daughter she should see Hope.  When we found out that our daughter was struggling with her drug addiction I looked at her and my granddaughter and my heart broke.  I couldn't imagine Maddison losing her mother and the father was the primary cause of the drug problem and is now out of the picture. Not a pleasant story …  I still have a lot to learn about drug addiction but I am empathic to the pain and strife is causes the individual and their families.  I am so appreciative of all the help we received from this site and all of the caring and compassionate people. We will continue the journey and battle but knowing we are not alone helps make victory a possibility.  May God continue to bless you and I pray for those struggling and fighting drug addiction and dependency.  Not every problem we face can be changed, but no problem can be changed until it is faced!

Thank you gnarly.  You were the first one who responded to our call for help and provided some sound, solid and excellent advice and guidance.  In the past 14 days I have met some great people on this site and like you they have also reached out to help.  I know that we are still far from being able to claim victory but thus far I would say that my daughter is running a good and strong race.  It has never been easy for me to share much about my life but in this forum I see where I can still help those in need.  I have seen that some people are reaching out for support and comfort and that I can give.  It may not be much but I am willing to offer what I can as a form of gratitude for what you all have given me and my family.  As a father and now a grandfather I see the gift you all unselfishly give and that is the hope, love and support in the attempt to give someone their life back.  I may come across as too philosophical but it is meant to be gratitude for helping me get my daughter back. I also wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a new year filled with much joy and happiness. Please continue to help and guide those in need, you are making a difference.  Jeff

Thank you Debbie.  You have been a big help and inspiration to many of us needing guidance, support and friendship.  Each day is a challenge with no guarantees but having to walk through the valley makes the journey up the mountain more of a blessing.  My daughter is on day 14 clean and sober and I finally see a light and know prayers are truly answered. Merry Christmas and I hope your new year is filled with much joy and happiness.  Jeff
