new to site

im so glad i found this site today. i was on duragesic fentanyl patch 300mcg for over 3 years. i have now been off them since jan. 2 2007. i still strugle with cronic pain and many other struggles that come along with addiction. it is refreshing to see a site that lets others with the same things going on share there experance, strength and hope with eachother. anyone with any advice on how to stay drug free or anyone going through the same stuff as me please drop me a note.

There are actually a whole group of patchers here on this site... that are either tapering or have just finished... you should be able to find lots of support. I unfortunately know nothing about them.... I know it is a harder taper and worse wd than other opiates.. I am so glad your doc is understanding and helping you taper... that is a huge first step.. Welcome to the site...

ya coming off this patch was way worse then when i came off oxycontin and diluadid. my problem is that i was injured years ago and suffer from cronic pain. im 25 years old and walk with a bad limp. not only painfull but depressing. i feels very alone all the time. having this new sobrity makes me fell even more self concius about how i walk. but im happy im not in the grips of the pain patch anymore.

It will take time to get used to walking "clean"   but hey look at that guy "house" on tv he walks with a limp and he is sexy as hell....

Hi Matt,
Welcome to our own little self help niche.
I can relate to the feeling self-conscience about the limp. Its new to me and It wont be going away any time soon , if at all, I found out yesterday.
Shattered my heel and fractured a bunch of stuff in ankle/lower leg 5 months ago.
I hear 12-18 months before its all done, and if i get 80-90 % of normal use back I'm lucky.
I'm sorry ya have your situation  at such a young age.
I dont know the kind of pain your in but I'm lucky that Motrin 800 MG makes my pain "livable".
Your in the right place though for getting help with the addiction, I dont know alot about the patches but I know I read about others who do know.
Hope you feel better . stay strong
