Has anyone ever heard of this? Please reply!

I live is Eastern Ky, and I've been sober 3 1/2 years.  I am pretty active in anything that has to do with recovery.  It has been brought to my attention this past week that a new promising devise is in the trail stages and they have brought it to my area for trail studies.  It is called Nueroelectric Therapy (NET) for short.  This devise is about the size of an ipod that can fit on your belt, it has to electrodes that hook up behind your ears to send waves to your brain and help speed up detox and to rebuild the brian damage done by the drugs, alcohol, or whatever you are doing, (also smoking).  I have done some research about it on the internet.  Eric Clapton, and Pete Townshend from the Who have both used this device in the late 70's, I think.  It was invented by a Dr. named Meg Patterson.  She did not want to use this for profit, she just wanted to help some people.  She died, I think in 2002, and her family is trying to get this device introduced in the FDA so they can help people.  It sounds unbelievable, and I know what most say, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.  But, I talked to a woman that was at a seminar, and they had a herion addict there that came in, her arms filled with track marks and in severe withdrawel.  They put this device on her,  the next day she was laughing, smiling and eating, which is amazing to me.  It makes the withdrawel much more bearable, which I don't really care so much about that as that it restores the mind someone of just a few days sober to 2 years sobriety.  That is what wowed me!  This can truely be a break through in any type of addiction.  I have a personal friend who is using this device right now and still in the pretty early stages of detox.  After being on this device for one day, the leg twitching stopped, and she had a really good night sleep.  I found an interview with Pete Townshend and I will post it on here so you can get a better idea about this.  It sounds amazing.  http://www.thewho.net/articles/townshen/penthouse_1983.htm

i've used it.  my pain pmgmt guy used it on me for my back pain.  it made me giddy and light-headed, but i can't say it did alot for my pain.  that said, his wife has the same back prob's i have, and it did her a world of good (according to him.)

i think it's the "next generation" of the T.E.N.S. unit, but i'm not 100% sure.

my guess is it will work differently on everyone.  and, i didn't use it for addiction... i guess i shoulda said that in the first place!!
