Have had a set back

Hi everyone,
After over 90 days clean ,I have had a set back .I have been on pain meds for three weeks now because of bad pain on the right side of my face it turned out to be TMJ .
So i am trying to taper back off the meds.. For people how don't remember me I got clean from an ultram addiction  in April and been been doing really well .I tried for a month to deal with the pain without  pain meds I just finally could not do it any more .
I am not looking forward to withdrawal  again . Then I am going to have to find a way to deal with the pain without pain meds . I am going to go see a TMJ specialist on tues I am hoping that will help .. So i will be around.

Thank you , for the kind words . I know i am strong and can do it , however it does scare me. I know I have only been on the meds for three weeks so withdrawal wont be as bad .
So i have all of my stuff to taper and for withdrawal now i just need to set up a plan of action with the specialist next week to deal with the TMJ .

Lizzie i will be strong :)

the term "backsliding" has a very negative connotation (backsliding is usually used in the sense of a dog returning to its vomit) and from what he posted there isnt any indication that he is "backsliding."

he stated the pain became so bad that he could no longer endure it so he took pain medication - and in case you forgot - pain medication is for pain.

I'm so sorry to hear about it but remember, it's not what you've done, it's what you plan on doing about it that really matters.
You did it before and you can do it again, especially since now, you have a sober reference.
I'll say a prayer for you that you find relief from the TMJ and find relief from having to take the pain meds.

Good for you!  I don't care who you are, if you live long enough you are going to have to take some pain medication at some point, for addicts it just really sucks!  But those are the cards we were delt, so we have to deal with these situations when they arise.  Good for you for coming here and talking about it!

Hang in there!  This is just a part of an addicts life!  Just get back on track!  I have had experiences with TMJ and it was very painful.  I can't stand when anything in my mouth hurts.  I have just been sober for over 3 years and I have had to take a small amout of pain meds maybe about 5 times in the 3 years!  It is so scary, but sometimes, there just really isn't much you can do if you are in allot of pain.  Best of luck and keep posting!
