oc and methadone

I'm new to this forum but I need help and advice Please Please Please.  
I have been taking methadone and oc's since 2003. They are prescribed by my pain Mgmt doc. But I am ready to stop taking them ... I'm tired of my life being controlled by meds.  My dosages are 30mg methadone 4 times a day and 80mg oc 3 times a day. Yes its alot I know. I have cut myself back to only taking a total Oh 40mg methadone a day and 80mg oc 2 times a day, also let me say ...I do NOT take it all on the same days. I will take the oxycontin for several days then take the methadone a Day or two. I have been taking this dosage for about 2 years. I Have taken the oxycontin for two weeks then the methadone for two weeks. I never take them together on the same Day .....never. which one should I stop taking all together first??? I want off these pills. HELP!!

Stop methadone first. Oc will help mask the severe withdrawal which will probably last a month or two since you have been on them for 7 years. Oc wont be a picnic, but it wont be near as long as methadone withdrawal. Imo, and I've gone through both withdrawals as well. Methadone by far sticks out like a sore thumb. :(

I agree with Addeycakes go off the methadone first taper down as far as you can 5mg is a good dose to jump from methadone withdrawals last about 2 weeks physically but its the post withdrawals that get to you it was a good 90 days b/4 I started to get better the oxy will help that you wont feel it as much then you can come off the oxy and that will be a lot ezer
nether one is any fun but methadone is evil to come off of its defenetly doable I did it

Yea,go off the methadone first,the oxy will mask the wd from the done.Then in a while taper or C/T the oxy.It does not last long like the methadone.                                       Karl

That all shocks me. Cause I would have thought to drop the oxy first since its a higher dosage. Plus its easier to cut the dones and lower the dosage of it...especially with this new oxy formulation They got out now prevent me from cutting them in half.  Should I just stop cold Turkey on the dones then? I mean since I got the oxy to take...plus I have gone two weeks before without the dones, I took only the oxy. Now let me say this....I do NOT snort the oxy, never have. Too scared and Don't want to.
