Is anyone else Tired, Sleepy, Lethargic after using? Please help!!!

About 40% of the time I take my perscribed oxycodone 30mgs bout 6 to 8 pills at once. (I been using for 2.5 years and that is where my tolerance is at.  I know its pretty high.) Anyway - sometimes - after the feelings of euphoria are gone I am so "drugged" sleepy, i can't even talk straight. Fall asleep in my soup! Can't hold my eyes open, literally Fall asleep - fast asleep GONE while standing up, like in full-on REM sleep till one of my knees buckle and send me flying.  Weeeee! Great way to wake up, i grab my heart thinking, oh i am having a heart attack now!!!  The pills are getting soooo old.  They make me sooooo lethargic and sleepy.  When i fall asleep standing up, like last week i woke up and i was standing at the top of the stairs.  I usually jump real hard when i start to fall over, thank God i didn't do that at the TOP of the stairs, i would have killed myself for sure.  For some reason, really calmly i just opened my eyes and looked down.  It scared the **** out of me!!!  Has anyone fallen asleep that way. I can't hold a job because i keep falling asleep during training, it only takes like 3 seconds of being still and i'm literally snoring, drool coming out of my mouth - dead! Im okay if im busy moving, but if i am EVER still I am FAST asleep, even though i have fairly normal sleeping habits.  I sleep well and normally at night.  This is not funny but I find cigarettes everywhere around me, the carpet where i stand by the window is scorched EVERYwhere!  Or a lot of the time when i drive i will nod off for 1/2 sec at a time.  I slap myself, pull my hair, hold my eye open with my free hand, anything to just stay awake until i can get home, specially with the boys in the car, it just happens so fast.  Again, I don't even feel sleepy until my body is still - makes reading the computer a real *****!  I can't tell you how many times i have woken up with the keyboard up my nose!  Okay, here's the thing - other times like the other 60% of the time the pills just give me a nice buz, take away the pain and work normally, no extra weird sleepiness.  What the heck is going on??? I thought maybe dehydration, but ive tried everything and its like the pills just have a mind of their own as to how it is going to effect my body.  ANY thoughts on this subject would be soooooo welcome... I think im going nutz! Please Answer!!!

The pills arent changing at all - - you are taking enough to get so borderline overdose that its serious. I have been there. Its just a physical and natural law. At some point you will "nod" off but your respiration will also be so depressed that there will just not be enough oxygen to keep all of your systems online. Generally around this time you die from respiratory arrest, but sometimes a cardiac event will precede that........you need to modify your program and it should be quite quickly.....I read that you have kids with you? Do it for them if for no other reason. This is quite real.

Ok I'm going into mom mode right now so please listen to what I have to say. My first observance and opinion on your post is that you are taking too much and that is why you are getting those affects. Even if this is the way your doc has prescribed you to take these, it’s still too much. They are pain killers and it is your choice to take them or not take them. There are many many many people who have OD'd taking their prescribed amount of oxy and you could be one of them soon. Also, waking up with cigarette burns on the carpet? You are so right when you say it’s not funny because it scared the **** out of me when I read that. I do not have a clue about your personal life or situation meaning don't know if you are married, a parent etc.... but I’m sure you are something to someone and think about how they would react to you dying in a fire because you took too much oxy passed out with a cigarette and died. And driving and nodding off is so not OK whether you have passengers or not. There are others on the road and you are putting all lives in danger by doing this. It is absolutely driving under the influence and you will go to jail for it, prescription or not. I hope none of this is harsh but when I read your post I instantly felt fear for your safety. Please stop taking that amount all at once, 40% of the time is 40% too much to be putting your life and others lives in danger like this! Please, I beg you take care of yourself, I am certain you will be missed if something tragic happens.

Have you told the doc any of this??  You may have a sleep disorder and then adding all the pills.  You need to get this checked before something really really bad happens.   sara
