apox 9 months ago I went to a detox center and  rehab, I was doing good then fell of the wagon when i had to put my dog down ( I know it,s an excuse) so once i got my head out of my..well you know, I got myself off the pills on my own this time. I used some of the things that they did at the detox center I went to.  first I weaned myself down each day and a half. you will start feeling some symptoms like stomach problems,(immodium helps) once you get down to a lower dose. then you stop!! and this is were you need alot of restaint. when your feeling crapey its tempting to say f.. it and go get more pills, (if this is were you keep getting stuck, then I strongly suggest go to a detox center were you CAN'T go get more pills. If your strong, you can do it. things that help are to stay hydrated, gatorade or vitamin water are great. immodium for diarreah, ibuphophen for the cramps, and i used and herbal supplement called valerian for anxiety and sleep, although benadryl worked better for sleep for me.  At the detox place they gave me a muscle relaxer (but you may need a px for something like that. I am on day 5, and although i don't feel great its barable. to me this beats the intense withdrawl you experience just stopping cold turkey. GOOD LUCK!

More details, please? Anything. I'm on Day 12 off of a 240mg/day habit (two 60mg OxyContin, 12 10mg/325 Percocet every day) that lasted four years. I can't sleep more than 4 hours a night and my energy levels are bottomed out. All I want is a good night's rest. I do NOT want a pill. No urges at all, which is surprising to me, but I quit them and went through Hell Week for a reason -- I don't want them anymore, for real. All I can think about is feeling like a human being again, but I still feel like a wretched creature. I'm back to work but I'm at maybe 20% productivity.

I was taking oxycodone at comparable amounts for a 19-month time period.  For me personally, I used ativan to ease the withdrawals and to aide my sleep for the first week, so that plus the thomas recipe, plus the euphoria of being clean, made the first week tolerable.  The second week was hell because I couldn't sleep and was void of all energy and felt depressed.  During the second week, coming home from work felt like home to complete emptiness without pills.  I thought this was what clean life would be like.

I soon found out that wasn't the case.  Week 3 brought increased hope and - more importantly - increased sleep.  Around days 21 to 25 I began waking up after 7am for the first time.  I was still waking up here and there throughout the night, but waking up to sunshine was a morale boost.  I also no longer felt the need for the L-Tyrosine in week 3, so my depression was also subsiding.

Week 4 brings a sense of "being back" in some ways. 30 days is a big milestone.  You think you've made it, but in reality things will gradually get better and better throughout the second month.  I thought 30 days was as good as it would get, but now after having just passed 60 days I know I wasn't anywhere near recovered.

I have read from some of the veterans in this forum that 90 days really where you start being your old self again.  While I feel great today, its good to know that this time next month I could be even better.

I could go into more detail if anyone wants but didn't want to bore people.  Best of luck.

In my opinion, by the three month mark you should be close to normal.

Sleeping better - about three weeks.
Depression - 1 1/2 - 2 months
Energy - 2 months

That is from my experience. Also those time frames are for relief and not for complete cure of.
