Day 11 no opiates, now to get off the soma!

Ok I have not taken an opiates for 11 days. I have been on soma 4 to 6 a night for 12 years to get to sleep. I do not sleep at all without them. Well new dr took me off and put me on flexeril that does nothing. I will never sleep again! Oh and how I do love to sleep. My body craves sleep and I can't wait for bedtime. I even took an ambien one time and it did nothing. Nite time OTC meds don't work. Will I ever sleep again? My new doc thinks soma is a horrible medication, I forget all the reasons but a lot of it was mental well being. I just want all of the meds out of my body, I would love to have a natural nights sleep, but  I'm afraid ill never sleep again.

Thank you pat. I will try anything natural, I know what I spent on my pain meds not having insurance so the natural remedies are just a drop in the bucket by comparison. Doesn't hurt to try, I tried the l-tyrosine, didn't work for me, I tried the 5-htp and I do think its really helping!
Hang in there honi!

Hmmm Im not sure if its hereditary. I guess its possible! I know, I feel/felt the same way! I finally took myself off Ambien at like day 12 because I wasnt even sleeping anymore with that! That was a LONGGGG 10 days or so because I didnt sleep really at all!! BUt I actually feel my sleep getting back on track a little bit, and am sleeping about 5-6 hours a night now! Believe me thats a HUGE accomplishment!! I dont want to ever go back on Ambien or any sleep medication! I actually want to live my life chemical free if I can. The drugs just messed me up so much in so many ways

Thank you , no my old doc had me on soma and my new doc took me off!  I just think all the pills, ones to sleep, ones to get me going....have messed up my natural cycles so badly I'm just afraid ill never get back to normal. Also my dad never slept so I'm afraid it may run in the family? Is that possible?

Hi Sikie! Did your Dr. ever address the reasons for your insomnia?? I have suffered from insomnia off and on for many years and have tried different things. Ambien I found was the best for me! You said your Dr put you on Flexeril and Soma for sleep? They are muscle relaxers, so thats odd. I have taken both and yes they made me drowsy but Not enough to sleep soundly, but that was me! I have also heard some bad things about Soma which is why I stopped taking them. HA I actually stopped a pill because it was bad for me! :)

I hope that you find something that works for you. Going through w/d certainly doesnt help that issue thats for sure!!

Stay strong and congrats on 11 days!!! Your doing it! :)
