More Stomach Issues - ?'s about Bentayl and Tigan

(Day 17 off Sub...went CT at 2mg after tapering from 16mg over 8 month)

So my doctor called in a prescription for Bentayl(for stomach) and Tigan(for nausea) yesterday. Both come with a host of potential side effects, many of which mirror withdrawal symptoms along with dizziness/drowsiness/blurred vision. I tried to eat a little bit last night and then took my doses of each. They definitely made me very drowsy and somewhat disoriented. Woke up groggy, with the same stomach pain, and a pounding headache.

Anyone ever take these meds....what were you experiences? Thanks.

Thank you...I appreciate the info. And you are right, I tend to imagine side effects when I read those inserts.

I have taken them but not for the same reason.  Bentayl is often used to treat IBS and similar issues.  It can take awhile to work.  It calms spasms in the intestinal track. If your stomach is all out of sorts adjusting to not being on drugs the Bentayl will probably help it's a good drug, widely used, well tolerated and it has been around for a long time.  Just try to hang in there and keep taking it as prescribed.  Tigan is used for symptoms of nausea it is not a real strong anti-nauseant.  All drugs have long lists of side effects look at the list for aspirin sometime.  Many times you should not even read those if they are likely to get you overly worried.  Any medication used to calm the stomach is going to make you a little tired or light headed it's just the nature of how the meds work.  Often after you have taken them a few times they wont affect you as much.
