Don't let your worry get the best of you.It will be fine just use what you've learned in your program. There are a lot of resources out there for people fresh out of programs. Trying to get into a sober living home is a great idea if you can swing it.
What are your current plans?
hi donald~
first and foremost congratulations on your sobriety!!
It is scary leaving rehab... I know what that's like. Rehab is a really safe and secure place to just focus on sobriety, learning new life skills, and setting your focus on the next right step. It's living life in a new way - in a safe space. I so get it. I also get the fear... but do not fear my friend... your rehab counselor or case manager ought to be working on an exit plan. If NOT, then YOU can!
Do you plan to go to a SLE - sober living environment/ transitional living home? It might be a really healthy choice for you. Choose now - right NOW to set some goals for yourself... how many meetings to go to as soon as your feet hit the ground outside the rehab... 90 in 90? 30 in 30? All the while... remember!! This life journey WE are on is ONE day at a time.
Do you have any family at all to lean on? Are they healthy? Sober? It sounds like you are already making good choices... you know you have to change your playground, playmates, and playthings... this is not easy... but it is essential for LIFE clean and sober. So happy you're here. Open, willing and honest... You're not alone Donald. Keep coming back for support.
You will find others to come along side you with more advice and encouragement! Keep choosing YOU!!
take it one step at a time, have faith ,accept your new life and use the tools you have learned, things have a way of working out, i know i have had same type of situation, a little different but started completly over, focus on what is good, and what you do have , not what you don't have, use positive self talk , and let life happen , let go of trying to figure out how things are going happen, because you simply cannot control it all.
sober living house maybe good , job, meetings, meeting people in recovery, just think this is actually an exciting time, depending how you look at it....
I have a family member that is involved with NA. He has one year clean. His "new life" seems to be about helping others by telling his story, being there for others on a daily basis and empowering others to get clean and live healthy. He has all new clean friends and healthy gym buddies. Maybe this is something you can think about. Tell your story... save a life:)
Just take a deep breath and surrender to this process. Your Blessing will come rolling in if you work and work hard at staying clean!
Have they offered you to go in to a Sober Living house?? That might be a good idea for a while.
Bless
