crystal myth

Hi, I have a question.  I have a friend who called tonite after about 4 years of not seeing him and he is trying to get off meth.  Of all the drugs I have been addicted to thats not one.  Does any one know the w/d symptoms how long they last, how to beat the craving, or any other information that might help?

I have a  really close friend that has been on meth for years, he went to rehab last year and they used METHADONE to detox him. I couldnt believe it, but he said they gave him one wafer per day for 5 days and sent him home. by the way.....he is back on meth.

I'm sorry hun. I was hoping it would turn out to be something else. "ICE" is a man made drug & 1 of the most addictive & destuctive around. It's up there with the big boy's heroin, Crack.
& you say he's been on it 25 year's that's a hell of a long time on such a hard drug.
I'm not expert on the drug as i have got a herion habit, Had a crack habit, Therfore refuse to take it. I would probably like it to much.
You are going to need support on this 1. Has he just got in touch out of the blue?
He will probably need to go into a detox/ rehad. He not only has to get clean. There will be thing's he has done for his drug's & he will have to dael with been a addict in recovery aswell.
That's often the hardest part. Not getting clean staying that way.
I wish you all the best. xxx

Is that "ice" crystal meth? Or crack,? I have used crack but "ice" insent really widly avalibe in the u.k yet. ( thank god ). Enyway 25 year's of very heavy use. That's not gonn a be an easy addiction to break. But i can & has been done.
If i'm right it's more of a mental w/d that phisical. That can sometime's be eorse. But when i was addicted to crack i didn't finf it as hard to come of as i'am heroin. Keep use poste on where he's at. & I hope me no's what an great freaind he has in you?.
All y freind's didn't want to no. That will help him alot. He is gonn a need to no that there are peple there for him. No long tearm addicton to het of is eay as there is more than the addiction to the drug to deal with.
It's alot about why that peron started to use & contiune's to do so. He's gonna have to face alot of demon's & that's where people around him come in. I've been & continue to battel a 13 year herion addiction & 6 year methadone addiction. & 6 year benzo addiction. God that sound's really bed, take care & also look out for you. It's gonna get worse befoe it get's better. Soz if this is all negative, But not much about getting clean is positve. Apart for that person's will to be clean. Hope it work's out :) nat x

Hi Cathy,i believe that methamphetamine(SPEED) as in the day.Like cocaine meth is more psychological than physical, i have done meth 30yrs ago and never develioped a problem, but i cant say that for crack/cocaine the coming off that made me fell better each day as coke really causes depression, like meth. The issue i had was whebn i felt better id use again, crazy ay. have a nice night john

From all I can find out he is headed down a long road...he has been using for 25 years very heavily...had a brush with death this past week was on a ventilater 4 days before he could breath on his on so he is pretty much being forced to clean it up.  We are relly gone be praying for him.  He called to see how we got clean off the coke after a long period of using.  I hear its nothing compared to meth. Thanks.

It really depends on how much and how long he has been using.    The short term effects only last a couple of days.   It's really the long term effects on the brain that can be the scary thing.   Meth causes your brain to stop producing seratonin, so it's more than likely your friend will become severly depressed.  I recommend they find some help and maybe get on some anti-depressents.  I have a friend who uses to, and i am terrified of the road ahead of him.    It takes a couple of years for the brain to stop craving.  Good Luck to you and your friend.
