pregnant

I just took a pregnancy test, it's positive. I have been taking 10-20 mg of oxycodone, percocets, for years. I'll never take them again. Is my baby going to be okay? Be gentle, I am very excited about having this baby, and I have a wicked anxiety disorder. Also, I take 40mg of paroxotine, paxil, any suggestions on how to deal with this? Switch meds or...? I love Dr Pepper, can I have a little sometimes or not at all? I have been drinking like 8 cans a day.

Be honest with your ob they will help you. You are on a low dose so getting off will be OK. Don't be afraid the dr hears this all the time. Keep us posted..

Please see your Doctor or Midwife as soon as you can.

It really isn't a good idea to suddenly stop taking oxycodone when you're pregnant. The effects of sudden withdrawal can be more severe for the fetus, than continuing oxycodone throughout your pregnancy. If you really want to stop, you must do it under medical supervision.

You won't have harmed your baby by taking oxycodone, and it very unlikely to cause any harm even if you take it right through your pregnancy. Some babies do withdraw following birth, and this shown by a period of increased crying and irritability.  This hasn't been shown to cause any long-term harm to the baby and on your low dose of oxycodone, withdrawal is pretty unlikely anyway.

So see a doctor before making any quick decisions, and relax and enjoy your pregnancy!
