tram is correct... the breathing not only calms the nerve endings in your body it also lowers blood pressure and heart rate... it has a natural calming effect on the entire body.. another technique that the psychologist taught me was ... run a bath full of hot water... as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself... get into the bath and make sure that your entire feet and hands are totally submerged in the water... this is where the nerve endings in your body are that effect your entire body... including anxiousness.. when you have an anxiety attack all the nerves and muscles in your body are contracting and the hot water opens up the nerve endings in the feet and hands and calms the entire body.. I sometimes do this and the deep breathing together.. you would be amazed at how relaxing this can be to both body and mind at the same time
It will be over soon! The body takes it's time getting back to normal. Meantime, the breathing is a great idea. It lowers the heartrate and BP too. They both go up during periods of anxiety, I believe.
Try to get up and do things in small increments. Like, the hour is good. Or even 15 or 20 minutes.
Thank you guys... For the support I am trying to read at night and attempt to leave the house if even for an hour otherwise you are right I am a couch potato and I don't want that pill controlling my life anymore... And I don't want to take anxiety medication. I will try the breathing technique it has worked for me in the past. Thank you all for the support hopefully this will all be a bad dream soon...
Well everyone is different as far as the period of time goes.. but I found that going into it with a positive attitude worked better ... try and stay as busy as possible even if you don't feel like it and just keep the attitude of .. "I am stronger than a little pill .. and I CAN do this".. the positive attitude and not sitting around being a couch potato works much better for your recovery than sitting around and feeling sorry for yourself that you feel bad... I tried that and relapsed every time.. I hope you are feeling better soon and seriously .. try the deep breathing.. it works wonders for me and you don't have to worry about popping a pill for the anxiety... but there are non addictive ones out there if you choose to go that route.. I tried Lexapro for a while.. it helps with the depression and anxiety both... talk to your doctor if you can't get any relief on your own
Thank You... I guess it takes 30 days for the body to fully readjust? Depending on your use?
I have always found when I am having a bad anxiety attack that I can usually stop it pretty quickly with some deep breathing... try to get in a quiet place when you feel it coming on and just breathe... deeply in through the nose try and hold it for a bit then very slowly exhale out through the mouth... repeat this as many times as needed... I used to work in a mental health clinic and a phd psychologist taught me this helpful little tip and it works very well for me... hope this helps
We'll this is the worst its been, feels like I just drank 4 red bulls, that kind of anxiety? God I haven't seen my doctor in years.
Hi! If your anxiety is debilitating, you should talk with your doctor. It is normal to have some anxiety, but only you know how bad it is. Do you exercise? Take hot baths or showers when you feel it getting bad, and try to relax.
You might also try something like Hylands Calms Forte or Valerian Root for the anxiety. Both are OTC.
Good luck!
