Hi, T---welcome! Your dose of the different meds, while not super high, will nevertheless cause you withdrawal if you stop them suddenly. If you want to quit, do a slow taper--and do only one drug at a time. Do not stop any of these drugs abruptly, or you will feel rotten and defeat the entire process. If you have chronic back pain, this will definitely flare while withdrawing. Withdrawing makes EVERYTHING flare! ;-) You need to share your wishes and concerns with your doctor, as your taper program should be carefully monitored. We are here 24/7 to offer answers, support, and friendship. It's a good place--hope to see you posting!
most definitley you are having withdrawals from cutting the trams - despite what docs say you will withdraw from them just as you would an opiate. Use immodium aggressively while in withdrawal.
that is the trots from withdrawal! It happens to almost all of us. Tram is addictive and you will have withdrawals.
so I cut out one tramadol a day this week, and have had bathroom issues, can you WD from that? and could that be why I am haveing bathroom issues?
I would love to not take pain meds ect, but my back and my doc wont let me. But what scares me is reading all of the issues that come with pain meds. I am 53 and not young anymore, so I really would like to know how you feel when you WD, what happens to your body? had I known when I got hurt what I was getting into I do not know what I would have done. I feel so bad for all of you. I take 4 norco a day 10/325 and 2 valuim 5mg at night, and have for three years, would I go through bad things?
Hey Timber, welcome. What is it you'd like to know? Do you want to get clean? We can help you with that, so you're in the right place.
Let us know more about what it is you are wanting to do. Take care.
The meds just suck you in and get you hooked before you know it and I'm dealing with much more emotional turmoil over it than I would have imagined.
So to answer your question, yes you would withdraw if you came off the dosage you are on. In hindsight I think I was in low level withdrawals for some time because my body had adjusted to the dose and wanted more hydro but I wasn't giving it - I felt like I just had the flu a lot of the time, I wouldn't go into all out withdrawal because I was still getting a steady dose.
The valium is a little longer acting, I was on xanax 1 mg at night to hellp sleep and that only stays in your system 3-6 hours so every day I think I was in withdrawal from that and that was harder to come off of so just stick with the valium.
It sounds like your doctor is managing your meds, if you are concerned about dependence (which WILL happen) just discuss it with him/her. These meds can be great for certain conditions and the fact is some people DO have to be in pain managment their whole lives - I would just encourage you to be really educated about the drugs you take and be open with your doctor. If you notice yourself taking more than you should, taking them just to cut the boredom, to get energy or other addictive type behaviors just be really honest with yourself and get help.
I wouldn't wish this on anyone but I won't let anything control me so I know I'm on the right path for me.
When you go into full withdrawal you feel: sick as a dog, you get diarhhea, you get cold shakes, you are hot/cold, you skin crawls, restless legs, sweaty, dizzy, hallucinate, sleeplessness, mind racing.
magnify that panicy feeling you get when you don't take your meds on time about 1000 times- you start to get jittery and that creepy crawlie feeling all over. The worst of it only lasts about 3 days but I think most of us struggle with the mental aspect that hits you afterward.
I hope this helps.
