Addiction

I have been taking .25 mg Xanax 1 x daily for at least 10 years.  Only at night.  What would be your suggestion for weaning off this small dosage?

Hi & Welcome,

What may seem like a small amount to you is always dangerous when it comes to Xanax. As it was mentioned, it needs to be tapered and under a doctor's supervision. Please do not try this yourself. Also, have you considered how, or what, you will do in replacement. I assume you were prescribed the medication for anxiety? Ten years is a long time so please, work this out with your doctor.

I wish you the best.

Hi montana and welcome to the list.

You need to see your doctor and discuss a tapering schedule with him/her.

As you say, you're dosage is low, so hopefully you won't have too much of a problem weaning off.

There will always be lots of great support for you on the list whenever you need it.

Good luck.
