start on anti-depr. now??

I want to go off of the vicodin i was prescribed for fibromyalga (4yrs ago) but have always suffered from anxiety and depression and have no family support (and 2 young kids) My dr. recommends starting on "Savella" now before I start to taper so it's built up in my system. anyone else ever taken this?  How can I tell if it's working while still taking opiates??! if anyone knows 1st or 2nd hand about this med, please let me know, it;'s a newer one, Thank you!!

yes, the pharmacist knows I'm taking hydro, that's where I get it, I'm not on the savella yet I posted to get feedback on people who have started it before tapering (my w/'ds are more mental, depression and severe anxiety)
taperme, I too take it as prescribed but am completely dependent now and have increased over the yrs to where I now take 6 10/325 a day--thank you both so much for your comments, I'll call my dr. now and keep you posted on how it's going!

I've been taking Savella since late this summer. A few months after taking it, I dropped the 2 80mg oxys I was taking for fibro, no problem. About a month or so later I started a quick taper off of the norco I was taking (about 10 per day), and have been off of them now for I think 25 days. My doctor was the one that pointed out that he thought the reason I was able to do it was because of the Savella. I still have some pain, but so far am managing it with OTC stuff. I'd recommend trying it, with the intention of getting off of the vicodin. Good luck.

I would contact your pharmacist if you have ny doubts .Did the pharmacist know you were on hydro ? If not call and ask
