starting day 7 no sleep yet

The withdrawals are leaving but still no sleep. I can not totally relax yet. It is like the pills still have a slight grip.. The no sleep is the main thing now. Just trying to stay  with it. I am sure in a day or so I will sleep out of exhaustion. This is really hell. I am tired. I stay with it now because I feel things getting better now. Is there something the doctor can give me to sleep that is not addicting?

I bought unisom otc sleep aid. It does seem to help some. Is it a miracle sleep aid. Absolutely not.
In my first 72 hrs I didn't sleep 1 minute absolutely horrible. I finally slept like 3 hrs not all at 1 time but at that point who cares. So I understand the no sleep crap. I still have severe rls which makes it impossible to go or stay asleep. Hang in there. Praying for you.

Please forgive me because I can not remember everyone's details but I know we started this journey at the same time so I remember your user name.
The first couple of nights after being off the xanax I took immodium and an otc ibuprofen. I am also taking the vitamins from the "Thomas Method" as well as drinking an oj mix that my parents swear by for RLS. One of the 3 ingredients (apple cider vineger) seems to help a VERY long list of illness including anxiety.
I do hope it gets better for you. Also, has hard as it is try to get into a bedtime routine that includes no tvs, electronics, bright lights for at least 30 mins. I use this time to read my daily bible verse or journal using just enough light from a lamp or flashlight to read.
Good Luck. The RLS and anxiousness in the beginning were the worst part for me.

You are doing great Kizer. Not sleeping in the first week or 2 is very normal. Yes sleep will come and when it does, you will be wonderful. Until then just try to relax.

Many have used melanonin (in the vitamin area) and have had some good results. The Thimas Recipe or Larry's Recipe has options for sleep too. You do not want to start with prescription sleep aids bc they can be addictive.

You are almost there. Just hang in there a couple more days.

I just needed to know that not sleeping at all on day 7 was normal for a 10 year abuser. Overall I am starting to feel better but until I sleep I am staying inside and not driving.

Good Job so far! Yes, it takes Time for the Brain to readjust back from the removal of these Stims. The Sleep and Weakness/Motivation seems to be the last thing physically and then the Mental will kick and come in waves.
As a long time user it did take me awhile to sleep..You have to train your brain into a regular sleeping pattern..This all will come on it's own time! For me it just happen one day and all I wanted to do is sleep. Just try not to put a Time Frame on this because all of us Bounce back different..There are many Factors that play here like age, how many substance we came off of, how many mg in a day and our Health, etc. Just try to be in the NOW and just know these stages will come and go..Try taking your Calcium, Ds, Magnesium & Potassium at night..These things help relax you and also the muscles. Besides the other things that where mentioned above. Try to re-direct your thinking as best as you can..Wishing you the best and I sure do pray you get some out side aftercare..This is where the work really begins..Working on staying clean!!!
