I am so sorry to hear that....but i am sure through consouling you will get better with what u just wrote....And maybe be able to heal and have some kind of closure, without that foggy mind....
I have no experience with sub, or oxy's so i don't know the answer to that....Maybe just start the sub, and the counsouling and take it one day at a time for now...Then u can decide how long you want to be on it...I think with support you will be able to stay on it alot less then without...Also with a good doctor, who is not just interest in your money, but in you...I am just so happy for you!!!
Good luck

Yes, that is true. The suboxone blocks the opoids from reaching the pleasure centers. Luckily, from my (very short-term) experience, you don't crave the opoids.

I am doing ok. Still have emotional ups and downs but still clean. Don't be hard on yourself over this (using) There are a lot of success stories with sub. Just be careful. It is very addictive too.

That sounds great to me!!!  I always felt that it should me manditory for a patient to get counsouling , and the dr. make sure of that, when giving sub...Because it is just a tool to use to get your life back, and with counsouling you will get to the core of your issues...
I am so happy for you, i know you have been struggling a long time...
If i were you, i would call and ask them to put you on a cancellation list , just in case ...
hugs to you

Glad to do anything I can to help, oxygirl. Anything you need, I'll be more than happy to share. I put some of this in an earlier post but I don't think anyone responded, but i'll be glad to again if you don't mind the long post. My appt. was for this morning at 11:20 and I had heard different stories (here and elsewhere) about how long to be in WDs. I was pretty anxious, because if you're not in WDs, the subs actually put you in them! That scared me. Anyway, I took my last hydro at 8 p.m. last night, so it was about 16 hours before I took the sub. If was in WDs for sure, but not quite as bad as I thought I would be by noon. I told my wife it was probably because I knew i was going for treatment, not just running out and not knowing where i would get more pills. But I was definitely starting some WDs (terrible diarrhea, feeling kinda lousy, stomach cramping). Anyway, about 20 minutes after taking the sub (you have to take it sublingually, i.e. let it melt under the tongue) I started feeling much better. I told my wife I couldn't believe how good i felt, even better than if i would have taken opoids. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes later or so I got to feeling a bit dizzy. Actually, I felt pretty buzzed, not necessarily in a nice way. But dont get me wrong, it wasn't anything really bad, just minor. I got to feeling better. I think I just need t adjust the dose. Overall, so far it's just great. I don't have any cravings or WDs whatsoever. I'm thinking of taking a half dose in the morning and see how that works. Sorry again for the lost post, but let me know if you need anything else. Always glad to share my experiences, as others have done for me.

This is excellent news. And being the last one he can take. I think I remember something about when a Dr 1st gets licensed to prescribe sub, they can only take 30 patients.
I am happy for you.

Well, it wasn't totally free. Like I said, $195 up front at the doctor's office (cash, no checks!) and my insurance co-pay is $50. That's $245, but still a bargain if it keeps me from spending $500-$600 a month to buy vics on the street after my scrip runs short each month. I'm hoping to de-tox with a step-down program, but I have not heard many positive comments about that on this post. My doctor assures me that weaning off subs is much easier than weaning off hydrocodone, but of course he hasn't personally experienced it. I sure hope he's right though.

WOW---it was your day...I don't think i have ever read where anyone has gotten the total thing for free, even counsouling...Sounds like a great place to me if they have the consouleing there, to make sure u are going....And to be totally honest....U can do this..
Make sure that u get all the info that you can about the meds...READ alot...
Way to GO!!!

Good luck. I am on my first day of sub treatment. Like you, I made a couple of calls and got depressed. One doctor's office said I'd have to be in withdrawals for three days before I came in! Are you kidding? I told them if I'm going to day 3 i may as well go cold turkey! Plus they wanted $600 up front. I was in despair, but I called another office and got an appt. $195 up front, plus the prescription (which my insurance covers). I started treatment this morning and so far it's like a miracle.
