You can do it if you really want to but if you need to don't beat your self up sub is not a bad thing really some of us just need the help, I'm on sub and at first I felt bad to be on it but now I really think that is better to be on sub that to OD on the vick or lortabs and that is the direction that we addicts have to face.
Good luck either way you go and just remember that there is a lot of help here to get you through this ok.

The ambien should be used for sleep, its exactly what it was designed for. The ativan I know does cause some sedation but I would think you would want to stick with ambien. Now if you have considerable anxiety problems along with insomnia then you may want to take both, but if you can get by with just one then of course stick with it. Really whatever you decide is hopefully what is right for you, but keep posting and you will get some good advice here. Do whatever is necessary for you to get clean, and you will come be thankfull when its all said and done.

I can tell you as for my experience I dont miss oxy's/methadone at all. I was so tired of my life constantly revolving around pills, day to day worrying about what would happen if I ran out or where to get them, the constant stress became overwhelming. Now I also have chronic pain in my hip/knee/leg and I use a compounded gel KGCL, which is part ketamine, gabapentin, clonidine, lidocaine. My sub doctor was the one who recommended it to me, and I was very skeptical at first but if all you really need is pain relief then I would for sure look into it, see if your doc will prescribe it, and also see if your insurance wil pay for it. Supposedly alot of insurance's dont cover it according to the compounding pharmacy, which I find aburd that they will cover oxycontin, but not a gel that relieves pain and is non addictive. If you have any questions about it scaredmom let me know, it really has been a blessing and anyone I come into contact with who is in pain, and also has addiction problems I always recommend it. I wish I would have known about it years ago...I even asked all the physical therapists I see, and none of them had heard of it either. My pain is a really dull, moderate type pain...sometimes sharp but the gel takes care of most of it. I really wish you the best of luck in your Sub journey, Im currently on mine, and if you ever need someone to talk with feel free to send me message and I'll do my best to help you out. Good Luck!!!

i have been on sub for 3 days now i am on 16 mgs for the day or less. let me resay that i can take up to 16 mgs if needed turing the day but no more then that. it works very well i think. im very happy with it so far and before my doc even put me on it we came up with a tapering plan already he wants me fully off them in 3 months that includes the tapering.

yeah, they have to certified to be able to prescribe it. All they have to do is attend an 8hr class on suboxone and they become certified. I think with that being the only requirement that it may contribute to many of the negative experiences people report of. Whether it's being started on too high of a dose or staying on it for too long. Really you need to taper whatever your drug of choice is down to lowest required dose then swithch over and should be no need to start any higher than 16mgs. Now there may be people who disagree but almost all of the negative things Ive heard come from those who have been on it for over 6months and/or started above 16mgs. I myself am currently on suboxone 1 1/2 months and taking 5mgs a day. I am going to try and be off by the end of 3months to try and avoid having more intense withdrawls, but I do believe some doctors for whatever reason are not fully aware of the consequences of using it as a maintenance drug or switching people over too soon. Remember this is only my opinion, and Suboxone has worked well for me, but Ive also heard from many that do not hold suboxone in such a high regard. If you have any questions Id be glad to try and answer them for you. I would try and see what you can do with a normal taper off the hydrocodone, and if you do decide on suboxone look into the 21 day method, or some people report being able to take 2mg for 5-7 days and then off. Depending on how long your on suboxone the withdrawl would be much more intense then that of vicoden. Good luck with your journey and I would encourage you to keep posting here, there are many people with first hand experience with practically anything you could dream of, so stick around and do your research before settling on suboxone.
