We have the same exact story. I am on day 4 from cold turkey and honestly feel ok. Lots of pain today in my wrists & hands from the surgeries & arthritis. But, off the Percs. It has been 21/2 that I have been on them for paint management. Two 10mg twice a day. Just stay on this site non stop and read the posts and keep everyone in the loop. We all do really care. We can get thru this together. Good lick and keep us posted! K
Spend some time on this site and read some posts. They REALLY helped me. Please, just take some time and read the stories of others and you'll get so much information. I really believe that the WD are not as bad as some talk on this site. It almost brings a much greater fear prior to the start of the WD but when you are in the middle of it (say day 3), it does suck but isn't as bad as what your head and some post were saying. Just be ready when you stopped 100%, 0-24 hrs... manageable and can work, 24-48 hrs, starting to really suck, unable to work usually after 24 hrs of entering the WD double EE ticket ride... 48-96 hrs, counting each hour, horrible and still unable to work. 96-144 hrs~ ups/downs but great improvements. sneezing, RLS, no sleep, etc. May start back at work at around the 144 Hr pt (you usually need 4 full days of bed-bathroom-bathtub-repeat, between day 2 - 6 1/2) BUT, you can do it. most of us already have. At the end... no biggie, we feel much better and we accomplished so much. Support is amazing on this site. :D Good luck... keep on posting... and make this the time to make goals for yourself. To all your friends and work boss: You just got the super flu. Enjoy the ride!
I'm not sure there is an "easy" way to withdrawal from opiates because it just plain *****. I was on vicodin a year and a half and have been through withdrawal a few times (ran out) the first two days were horrible but by the third day I felt a little better. Usually by then though I'd have more vicodin. I'd get with a Dr. if possible to help you through it more effectively. If not then I myself would take diphenhydramine (common sleep aid drug) for anxiety and ibuprofen for pain.
DITTO from what FourJays says come back wiht more info....WE CARE and can help...BUT do be honest with the DOCTOR they can do a taper that will be alot easier....
Hello and welcome . . . have you to talked to your doctor about getting off the pills yet (does he or she know that you want off)? Are you hoping to taper down slowly (usually the recommended way, but everyone is different), or planning to quit cold turkey? What have you been taking and for how long? Do you have chronic pain issues? There are a lot of people here with personal experience and knowledge about many different kinds of meds and withdrawal remedies. If you can just a little more info there should be others along to lend support and suggestions. Congratulations on deciding to do this. . . . sounds like you are ready!
