Welcome to the forum!  SO glad you came and asked this question BEFORE you make a decision about getting off Soma.

I used many types of opiates for pain (primarily hydrocodone and oxycodone), plus soma, plus MANY different types of antidepressants, plus benzos (like Xanax) and also gabapentin and had a 28 day "experience" with subutex/suboxone.

Soma was re-classified in Jan 2012 and all the pharmacies now treat it as an addictive med that is considered a controlled substance.

You may know all of this....or maybe not even care.....but Soma was one of my "favorite" drugs while using.  Yet, it was one of the easiest "for me" to withdraw from.  My dr. explained to me that chemically, Soma breakdowns in our bodies like a benzo.....which is (of course) why "I" personally preferred it over any other muscle relaxer.  I cannot tell you how many times I ran out of Soma, w/drew......got more.....w/drew......on and on it went.

It is BEST to wean down if you can.....most Soma is prescribed in 350 mg doses.  You will have an easier time if you wean yourself....but me.... being the type of addict that I am.....I was never able to WEAN.....my w/drawals only lasted 3 or 4 days and were like a "walk in the park" compared to withdrawing from ANY of the other meds I mentioned above.  You may have some stomach/nausea issues, sweating, agitation issues.....and some discomfort overall.....but you CAN do it and not be afraid of something major happening to you.

(Course, I'm assuming you are in good health, otherwise and aren't taking any other meds).  If you are taking other meds or have heart, diabetic or other issues.......nothing I'm saying should be considered without talking to your dr. FIRST!

My biggest.....loudest.....plea for you is PLEASE do NOT even consider using suboxone to get off Soma.  If you should want or need to talk more, just send me a PM (private message) or post again here.

Glad you are asking question BEFOREHAND......I was pretty ignorant about A LOT of things......and wish I had found this helpful website WAY sooner than I did.
Wishing you the best........and blessings to you~

I agree that sub would be an inappropriate choice to help you get off Soma.  You need to work with a doctor who can formulate a sloe and gradual taper plan, and if need bem have someone give you the pills at home, if you cannot stick to the taper yourself.

Sub is not an inherently bad drug, but it IS a strong opiate with its own set of risks and considerations.  I would strongly recommend rethinking using it if you are considering it.

They do, but suboxone is a brutal drug with terrible WD's of it's own.  I would stray FAR, FAR away from suboxone.   Just my two cents.   Coming off of Subs was one of the worst things I have ever gone through.

I'm sure it would reduce your symptoms, but detox off subs would be far worse than soma. I've seen subs used for cocaine and alcohol, and they felt great, but the sub detox was not worth it. Tapering down and quitting is your best bet, IMO. Soma detox isn't as bad as any opiate, and subs are one of the most powerful opiates. It would be more effective and easier to use heroine to get off soma. Heroine is not as strong as subs. That sounds crazy, right? I would not use opiates, especially if you are having trouble getting off soma.

Is there someone who can hold your pills and help you taper down?

No It is a maintenance drug for opiate dependence.
