Hydrocodone withdrawals

I've been off hydrocodone for 1 full day. I've tried to get off of it before, but never quite seriously enough. Now that I realize that it's a very serious problem for me I'm deciding to give quitting everything I got. My goals, aspirations, EVERYTHING ride on my ability to overcome this addiction. How much I would take really just depended on the availability of it at the time. I would be taking anywhere from 4-8 a day, to 12-20 a day. Just depended on how much I had available. I was really just wondering if anyone could gimme some advice. I know a decent amount about the subject as is, but im no professional. Any help is absolutely appreciated! I just feel like I'm in limbo right now. The withdrawals are currently sucking the life outta me. More than anything I think I need to just communicate with someone who has been through such.

You went from 10-0 CT?.. I was at 300mg a day of oxy..then to 8mg of subutex...then down to 1mg of subutex....then to 3 viks a day taper over a week to 0...i stopped my year long stint 3 days ago...clean... and $50k in the hole now...but have my life back

As far as advice...xanex and clonidine...the first 2 days where the worst...actually the last 2 days of tapering was the worst then the next 2 sucked but i never got that 4 days of hell..i slept a lot...and felt like every time i passed out and woke up i felt 5% better, 3 days later i take motrin for the sweats 3 times a day...thats a must and clonidine for the chills...get in the sun....walk if you can...just push urself as much as you can mentally...if you want it bad enough you'll pull through...i was ready to take myself to medical help if necessary and never got close to going to a detox or rehab...watched a bunched of movies...lol

Yeah I have gone through 3 or more days before and what your doing sounds very similar to what I'm doing. I took my 2 weeks vacation and yesterday was the first day. The goal is to get my life back on track in two weeks lol. I just planned on lockin myself up for 3-5 days depending on how I was feeling. I dunno if that's the best way to go about it but I have worked the 3-5 worst days of wd and I've never gone though so much mental/physical agony in my life. I have a pretty physical job that also required me to be extremely friendly so it was just horrible. I would have to say what has worked for me as for as the detox stage is to just take something to help you sleep well at night, keep yourself very hydrated, and try to eat whenever you can stomach it. Keeping your body healthy is key to feeling better whether it's wd's, or any health problem you may be goin through.

Before I stopped ct yesterday I had been taking over 10 a day. Probably an avg. of 12-15 a day. The excercise aspect, I agree, helps a lot. The few times I've had to go through this in the past, I found that excercise made me feel slightly better, even if only for a little bit. I don't smoke weed, but almost everytime I've had to go through withdrawals, I've drank to at least get an hour or so of mild happiness out of a day lol.

You shouldn't have any problems getting back to work in a week. Drink lots of Gatorade and eat heathy foods.

As far as dealing witrh the withdrawls, I go the the library and grab a dozen or so good movies. Kick back in bed, smoke some weed, keep the gatorade flowing, eat when ya can and zombie out for 3-4 days.

Not sure how much you had been taking prior to go cold turkey, that may determine how rough the withddrawlas are. Eitehr way, the worst will be over in 3-4 more days. Coming off Vicodin isn't anywhere near as bad as some of the Oxycontin / Methodone stories I have rad on this site. Myself, I have gone cold turkey at least a dozen times and I am usually over the worst of the physical withdrawl by the 5th day. I try to exercise, even if its just walking around the block or as much as you can handle. It really does help get your mind in better spirits. Prayer is helpful if your a spiritual person. I also like to smoke weed when I am withdrawling, it helps me with the pain and appetite. I have read mixed reactions to that but it works for me.

The part that I struggle with is the cravings (As you can see, I have relapsed many times). I am currently working on identifying my triggers. This last releapse I was doing great for about a week. Was driving past the place where I meet my dealer and that all it took. Next think I know, I have a pocket full of them little demons.

Bottom line, you gotta get your mind right, its a lesson I have not yet bothered to learn. Might read up on aftercare. Many folks on here will swear by it and I have noticed that they tend to have a better success rate

I also feel that I had a slight mental addiction for maybe a few months. I feels that I've been seriously addicted to hydrocodone for a little over a year. I didn't think it was that serious a year ago, but when I think back on it, yeah it pretty much was. Thx in advance to anyone that responds =) I could go on for an entire book about my predicament but that's probably not a good idea lol.
