I have a 2 year old healthy boy. I was on suboxone when I found out that I was pregnant. I was then switched to subutex. I wanted to Get off then completey but the doc said it would cause a miscarriage if I did. As with any drugs your infant can have withdrawals. Shine wise than others. Thankfully my boys withdrawal wasn't that bad. And trust me when I tell you that it can be the most frightening thing you've ever seen. There were lots of babies in the nicu suffering through withdrawal. Some that we're twitching so bad that their monitors wouldn't stay on. I'm not trying to frighten you. I just want to make sure you talk to your doctors about it. It does depend on you as to what your child will go through. So. Be strong. Be educated. And tell the truth. CPS will be there asking questions. If you have Abby questions I'm here to help

i am pregnant, and taking subutex. i am 5 1/2 months, and have been weaned down to about 1mg/day now. sometimes i take more, just depends on how i feel. it's keeping me clean from abusing percocets and oxys, so i dont beat myself up! i went to a week long detox, and was put on the subutex, it was very hard for me, emotionally!

anyway, my doctor is very supportive. i go to my subutex doctor to get refills on fridays and my regular doctor to get my obgyn check ups. they both have spoken to each other and are just so supportive of me. it's been great to know that they are watching out for mine, and my babie's best interest.

from the research I have done online, and in talking to several other mothers in rehab/detox who went through this, their babies had NO withdrawals if their daily dose was under 4mg/day.

let me know if you want to talk more! i would love the support too!

Suboxone and subutex are considered category C medications, this means that enough research has not been done on pregnant woman to know what the effects on the fetus will be. You absolutely need to tell your OB, they have a tendency to switch moms to methadone or a shorter-acting opiate as more info is known about effects. No one can say for sure if sub is safe to be on during pregnancy, so the sooner you talk to your doctor the better off you and your baby will be. Best of luck to you.
